IT IS TRUE. All the hype. Every bit of it. It IS possible to make money online.
There I was, wallowing in blog obscurity (the blogosphere, to those in the know) promoting, emailing, linking; promoting, emailing, linking; promoting, emailing, linking. You know the drill.
And yet, zero revenue. Granted, my blog was not designed primarily as a revenue stream, but I began believing all the "how to's" and "add sense" and began to think, "...just maybe."
Until, one day, I found HubPages. Now, I am called a "Prodigy". I have fans (really, fans, they label themselves such). I get fan mail (the politically correct term is "comments", but, same thing). And I will soon retire into the lap of luxury.

I was the same when I started, Peter. You'll even find a post somewhere on the forums where I asked if I was doing something wrong. However, things are suddenly looking up - I checked my Adsense the other day and I have $17! Yes, seventeen whole dollars!
I've had a blog for six months and only earned 2 cents, so actually I'm pretty impressed. Sad, isn't it?

Funny - nice hub - but remember the screen shot you are showing is only an estimate of your referrals for your actual adsense earnings you have to log onto google - my referrals say $3.45 but I have earned near 3x that figure last month ALONE - so I can buy a coffee and soda! I must say though that I am basically doing much better from HP than my other sites/blogs
So I do have a future writing hubs! Right on! That was hilarious and just what I needed to end my long day. Maybe you should consider compiling all of your hubs into a book and then selling them to all your fans:)

There is a "Links' capsule that you can add to any hub and insert links to any website. As long as your hubs are not too promotional of other sites, there shouldn't be a problem

I use a program called Gadwin Printscreen. It is free to download and easy to use. It allows you to capture as a jpg file any portion of your computer screen.

I quit writing for ezine articles and now focus on worldvillage. My monthly income from them averages a whopping $100 now which really isn't too bad. It's 1/3 of my montly adsense revenue. It's 2AM. That was funny! I'm pretty daft and didn't realize it was a joke til the end though, hehe. you only show your refferal tracker though...are you signed up for google adsense as well? how are you doing there? I've only been at this 4 days now i think, and i've earn around $12 with ad sense.

For my traffic, I use site build it as THE way to go. They help you build pages correctly from the get go and believe me, it's worth every cent to get help. Otherwise, you're a speck of sand on a deserted beach!! So why bother writing at all, right?

Does ANYONE make money at hubpages? It's a time consuming project if you are looking at it in a productive way. Of course, I do find writing and reading the hubs interesting and there are some very good writers here. Too bad we could not make some better money from this hobby. Making money online is just plain difficult, and I have yet to meet my first internet millionaire, but I am keeping my fingers crossed...who knows?

I just signed up with hubpages. I'm a journalist looking to go freelance. Well, at least you can make the equivalent of what a bank gives you in interest (that is if you live paycheck to paycheck like me:) )
I have a few places to recommend to you and others if you are looking to write and make some money.
Elance and ODesk are good if you are willing to bid on jobs. The pay is the best, but you have to compete. I did a simple formatting job and made $50.
Wired Flame is good money for writing occasional articles -- most jobs are forum boosting -- pays well, too. However, they only have a few jobs a week. Don't count on picking up more than $20 a week. Only good for supplementing other income.
Associate Content mostly pays on advertising commission. However, if you're a journalist like me who is comfortable with assignments I recommend checking out their Call for Content. Many of them pay up front once you finish the assignment. Typically, you would average $2-3 for 500 words.
Shared Reviews is a lot of fun. Pretty good community where you can review anything you want (i think minimum of 700 words). I recommend first creating a huge friend list to vote on your articles and then create a large base of articles -- once you do this you earn each month on your articles.
Helium seems okay. You earn each month on articles you write. I hear they are switching to a system similar to Associated Content where you get a guaranteed rate if you write in certain categories.
Mylot is easy money if you like discussion room like chats. However, it's a few cents per post, so don't depend too much on it. Nice extra cash -- and you can talk about whatever you want.
Storymash -- still testing it out -- but if you like fiction -- you can collectively write fiction with others and make revenue.
Stay away from Reviews Arena -- they don't run their site very well.
Just Answer seems okay -- still testing it. You have to be an expert in something like health, writing, math, cars, etc.
Well, this is all I have for now. I'm testing some other stuff. Maybe I'll share later.

I am glad to hear people are at least making money. Well I see it has been 14 months since your post. Have you made any more? Can you afford to trick out your car with floormats? I have been affiliate marketing for about a month and a half so far I made one sale and made $16.55 but that was using clickbank and google adwords.
