The Law of ‘Abundance’

I felt led today to share a thought and concept renown in the world we exist within that has enabled so many dreams for so many people, ‘The Law of Abundance’.

Over the years I have found this concept and in fact mindset an ever challenging ethos that as a Leader and Coach has demanded so much more of me, and those around me.

DEFINTION: a·bun·dance (ə-bŭn'dəns)

1] A great or plentiful amount.

2] Fullness to overflowing: "My thoughts . . . are from the abundance of my heart" (Thomas De Quincey).

3] Affluence; wealth.

4] Chemistry The amount of an isotope of an element that exists in nature, usually expressed as a percentage of the total amount of all isotopes of the element.

There is enough electrical energy available today for the world to function and for tomorrow, in fact there is as much today as there was 50 years ago. Electricity until it was discovered in the Elizabethan Age by a chap called William Gilbert was simply know as a magnetism and that the lodestone possessed properties, and that if you rubbed together Amber and jet it would simply attract stuff to start sticking to it.

In realizing this power Otto von Guericke of Germany in 1660 invented a machine that produced static electricity thus the first electric generator. In 1729 Stephen Gray discovered the principle of conduction of electricity and then interestingly Charles Francois du Fray discovered it was resinous (-) and vitreous (+).

Until these discoveries electricity was not part of how we lived, how we functioned as society or even anywhere in our human thought process. YET it existed, in the universe, around everyone and to all alive in that period it was simply an unknown quantity. Once it was known you can continue to follow its historic importance and how then with the knowledge of great minds, who were then able to create amazing discoveries such as the light bulb.

As it is with ‘The Law of Abundance’ which therefore depends upon recognition that it exists. The history and great minds show us "Whatsoever a man soweth that shall he also reap."

True Abundance exists when peace is discovered in your thoughts and your mind, abundance provides a set of lenses to see the world around you in a new way of thinking, a way of thinking free of the thoughts of worry, fears, anxieties, insecurities, negative thought patterns AND releases opportunity, freedom, success, potential and possibilities into your life. It is a choice that only works once applied in your life.

In business I have come across many examples of the opposite of this, here are some:

i) Maybe you have someone in your team who has the potential to go further than you? Do you enable them or suppress them?

ii) You may have a Line Manager or boss that you think you may be better than? Does this thought effect how you interact with them and is it supportive or protective of you?

iii) Do you discuss about others with others and not tell or support the actual person themselves how you actually think?

Each of these scenarios can challenge all of us at any point in life or relationships. Yet if we make the right choice then we change the circumstance for the positive and enable abundance in the process.

Jim Collins in his book from “Good to Great” talks about the principle of the ‘Mirror’ it is here we test our own personal MOT for Abundance. A spec in your eye that relates to the situations above is enough to disable Abundance.

So with the law of Abundance, it takes daily application to enable its transformative powers in your life. Charles F Haanel warns us:

‘Remember that it is in the application alone that the value consists, and that a practical understanding of this law will substitute abundance for poverty, wisdom for ignorance, harmony for discord and freedom for tyranny, and certainly there can be no greater blessing than these from a material and social standpoint. “
