I would like to start this article by emphasising that I do not condone the use of Facebook at work, in fact watching losers messing about on the Internet all day whilst you are working hard and carrying them is pretty annoying. But, I do appreciate them sometimes personal situations make these things necessary occasionally. Therefore I am going to hopefully help a few of you find a way onto Facebook, this basically entails finding a way to trick your works blocker. This will also depend on how up to date your works blocker is, many companies - particularly larger ones - will invest quite a lot of money on maintaining their levels of productivity; and I am sure that you can all appreciate that some people are slightly addicted to trawling the net, so this is justified. Anyway, this is what I did in my last job on a couple of occasions when checking my Facebook was urgent.......

Facebook - Proxy Surfer

The reason that you cannot get on Facebook at work is simple, your company has used its blockers to prevent access to the www.facebook.com URL. By clicking on the URL just provided, you will probably be presented by a note which informs you that the product has been blocked. The potential way around this is to find a proxy surfer which has not been blocked by your works systems, be warned immediately that this is no easy task - as most of these proxy surfers would themselves have been blocked. BUT...... new Proxy Surfer's appear on the Internet everyday, and your works system can not beat this constant stream of new sites. When you do find an unblocked proxy, it is likely to work for some time before being 'discovered'.

Another Way To Get On Facebook At Work

If you are still having trouble finding a proxy that works to beat the block, there is another way that you may be able to access Facebook from work. This is to install a piece of software called HotSpotShield, which can be downloaded from HERE. If your work system allows the installation (sometimes this is blocked too pending administrator permissions too) then just click 'connect' when installation has finished, and you can browse any site that you wish. Be sensible with it though guys, I don't want to get you to get sacked for your vanity- you may be bored, but remember that it's a recession, another job may not be as easy as you think to come across ;-)

As A Very Last Resort

I found this courtesy of a PC geek forum, don't ask me if you can't figure out how to use it; this method is very very unlikely to work these days; especially if your works system is advanced enough to block a proxy. But if the techniques already mentioned don't get you anywhere, then hell it's worth a try isn't it?

Sometimes proxy sites get blacklisted because of their size and popularity. The site that I use is http://www.proxyheaven.cn

It's not a .COM site and it's never been blocked from my networks. Hope this helps.
