Access HD DTA1080D Review

Click Here To Purchase The Access HD DTA1080D Converter Box

The digital TV transition is coming up extremely quickly and with that analog TVs will not work without a digital converter. The easiest option to make in the wake of the digital conversion is to buy a TV converter. If you are interested in ordering a DTV converter box so that you can watch TV after the digital transition then I suggest checking out the DTA 1080D digital converter.

The Access HD DTA1080D was made by the Access HD Company. The Access HD DTA 1080D digital to analog converter works extremely good and also contains the biggest line of specs as compared with all other digital to analog converters. Another great thing about the Access hd DTA-1080-D is that it is cheap digital to analog TV converter. This digital converters total cost can also be reduced to about $20 when using the government coupon. If someone is considering the DTA1080D it is good to learn that is even has closed captioning. Having a universal remote is another great feature of the Access hd DTA-1080-D. This TV converter is just one of most converter boxes that has a upcoming show details menu. Other functions of the Access HD DTA 1080D include a smart antenna interface, parental controls, and a signal meter. In the end the biggest feature of this TV converter is it's analog pass through.

Along with a ton of features the DTA1080D also comes with some of the best sreen and audio qualities. Cable & Satellite allow consumers to get awesome TV quality and you can get a similar quality with the DTA1080D digital converter box.

As already said, the digital conversion is coming up faster than anybody can imagine and people will be required act to keep our televisions operational. I suggest that you do the simple and inexpensive thing and just get a digital converter.

If you are considering getting the Access HD DTA1080D then I highly recommend you also check out the Philco TB100HH9. The TB100HH9 is a great converter box that is quite simliar to the DTA1080D.

The Access DTA 1080 is totally unacceptable. Sorry I can't identify mine as a D or U version as none of the labels the manufacturer put on the box identify the version. I assume that it's the D as it's the small box. The remote does not control volume when connected for RF (channel 3 or 4), only the RCA jacks are controlled. There is LOUD buzzing audio leakage into the audio whenever there is white lettering appearing on the screen. The display for channel and menu has tiny lettering, hard to see across the room. I also have two versions of the Zenith converter which actually work as they are supposed to on exactly the same setup. Stay away from Access products.

I agree, totally unacceptable. I have two 1080 and both loose the signal when you turn them off or on stand by. You have to rescan the channels everytime you turn them back on. Another problem seems to be the units are overheating easily and turn off after 4 hours operation.

I hooked up this converter box for the 1st time last night around 11:30pm on a bedroom TV. I turned it off at 12:30pm to go to bed & decided to move the box to a different location. The box was extremely hot. It was on a ledge so there was no reason for being that hot. I unplugged it for fear it would catch fire during my sleep. It should not generate so much heat. If my laptop computer got that hot, it would be an issue. I don't want to burn my house down by using this item. Company wants CC# before checking & if they find nothing wrong, I'm charged $25. I purchased two of these converter boxes with the 2 allowable coupons and neither one work. Now I have no coupons, no converter boxes that work, and have to purchase no boxes at full retail price. I say the Access converter box is not reliable. And my unit was only plugged in for 10-15 minutes and got extremely hot.

I bought this box a few months ago with a $40 coupon. I thought it was a flimsy, inferior piece of equipment, but it would do because I rarely watch network broadcasts.

It gets dangerously hot, so I unplug it when I'm not using it. I think it could start a fire if left unattended.

The box frequently flashes an error message RIGHT IN THE MIDDLE OF THE SCREEN that says something like "Your antenna isn't good enough. Call 1-800-something for information about better antennas". This is EXTREMELY annoying, because I can see around the small error message that the picture is usually fine.

Unfortunately, a few days ago the digital switchover became permanent, and I somehow lost two channels I was getting before. Moving the antenna, rescanning, nothing brings them back.

Whenever the wind blows hard, or it rains, the picture scrambles.

If I watched the broadcast networks more often, I would be angry about this digital switchover, and angry about purchasing this crummy little ACCESS HD converter box. The rabbit ears I used in the analog days got many channels with a pretty good picture. Digitally, I get less than half the channels.

My Access HD TV converter box stopped working after several months. The green light refuses to go on. The company has no telephone customer support and the return process is so punitive, I decided not to bother. I would agree that people should stay away from Access HD converter boxes.

I got good reception and clear pictures from using my roof top antenna (a very good, expensive one). Now I get a picture with a huge black square that only show part of the program I am watching. Also the thing goes off and tells me to check my antenna, but eventually just comes back on for a while. Why is this going on? Why do I have to have HD TV? No one asked me if I wanted it. Who is controlling my life?

Piece of crap, didn't work the first time i bought it, sent it to the company for fixing, company send it back and told me nothing was wrong, I call them and they told me to send to back.

After reading a comment about the Access HD converter box on another website, I decided to unplug the box after I was unable to turn on the green light. After I plugged the box in again, the green light went on. The same thing has happened to me a few times now. When it does, I just unplug the box and then plug it on again. This should not be necessary but it is.

since Comsumer Reports evaluations are at least 2-6mos, behind public demand and suggestions, I purchased this so called HD?digital box with much regret!

I think that this company(ies), should have a recall on this perticular model.

Along with our full price with coupon to exchange for an upgrade of another manufacture.

Anyone out there receive Ch.2.1(CBS) on these so called ditital signals on any of the convereter boxes???

Try to get your $$$ back...best of luck!

I purchased an Access HD DTA1080D converter and have had trouble ever since. The volume control buttons on the remote don't change the volume; the on-off switch on the remote often doesn't work; the switch on th e converter often often doesn't work; picture break-up and freeze-up often occurs; and the info on-screen panel is very hard to read (blue lettres on a black background. A letter of complaint to the company wasn't answered.

Largest piece of shit i have ever had the displeasure of using.Randomly just looses power, and I am worried about it burning our building down due to EXCESSIVE heat, like I am sure you all have issues with. Did they even test this thing before releasing it?Probably end up with a brain tumor and a burned down Apt from this product....

Worked great for about 1 week. Then lost power. Will NOT power up. Have to agree with Brett. Company says they will NOT honor return policy due to the fact that I can't find the receipt. Piece Of SH*T! DO NOT BUY!

This is a piece of junk. It works fine just long enough that I forgive and forget the last time it screwed me over. I turned on the tv at 8pm to watch V and it couldn't find the channel. I had to do a reprogram, so of course I did the quick one, but of course that didn't find the channel I needed so I had to do a full auto scan. Now it's *:20 and the scan is done and I can watch tv again, but I've missed the whole first half of my show. There is no point now. there is nothing else on tv I want to watch tonight. This box has just ruined my tv viewing evening.

I sinserly hope that anyone reading this who is considering buying this product buys something else, even at a higher price, it's worth it if you would like to be able to turn on your tv and watch a show when it's on.

F*ck the government and their communist control. This never would have happened with analog tv.

Can't get the HD Access DTA 1080 box to turn green. We bought 3 of these and this past week 2 of them stopped working. Have unplugged and plugged them in many times and nothing works. Has anyone had this problem and knows how to fix it.
