Acne Cures and Treatment Options

Unfortunately, acne is one of the biggest problems affecting teenagers. Having acne can lower self-esteem, contribute to feelings of depression, and may lower confidence of people that are affected. To help those who have acne understand the problem, we must first discuss some potential acne cures. By “acne cures,” I do not mean your acne will vanish and never come back. If there were a treatment method that caused acne to never return, everyone would know about it. Don’t think that there’s some secret cure that only you can find on the internet.

Acne Cure: Everyone Is Different

Acne needs to be cured or treated on an individual basis. Everyone has variations in the type of acne and the severity. What may be considered effective acne cures for some people may be ineffective in others. What works for your friend’s acne, may not work for you; and vice-versa. It is important to experiment with various acne cure products to find which ones work best on an individual basis.

Cure for Acne: Choosing a Treatment

There are many treatments that you can try in order to find a personal cure for acne. I have briefly outlined some acne treatment solutions below. Take a look at them, read the description and decide which you’d like to try or discuss further with your dermatologist.

  • Medications – Over the counter acne medications may be used to help cure your acne outbreaks. These have not been found to be as effective as other medications like oral antibiotics. Other products containing benzoyl peroxide have been found effective in curing small amounts of acne.
  • Hormone Therapy – If you have hormone-induced acne, it can be treated by following your dermatologist’s recommendations. It is most common that adolescent women are affected by hormonal acne due to their monthly menstrual cycle. With that said, men can have raging hormones that cause severe breakouts. A cure for severe hormonal acne in this case is by finding a medication that establishes balancing of hormones.
  • Phototherapy – Phototherapy is more of an uncommon cure for acne due to the fact that it hasn’t been proven as effective as other treatments. Phototherapy, which involves focusing light on your pimples, has been found effective in some cases.

How to Cure Acne: Look at "How To Get Rid of Acne Scars"

Treating acne itself is sometimes done the same way as acne scar removal. Both are related, but both are different. Both acne and acne scars can be taken care of with the fast-emerging laser acne removal. Both acne and acne scarring can also be effectively cured by using certain skin creams and sticking to a daily facial maintenance regimen as assigned by a dermatologist. Other specialized treatment methods may be extremely effective, but it is important to consult with a dermatologist and find a specific treatment/cure that works well.

For those with less severe cases of acne, it is important to keep in mind a potentially natural acne cure. Many natural acne cures are effective, though they may seem somewhat weird. The use of aloe products on the skin, eating a healthy diet, masking your face with honey, and avoiding wearing makeup are all effective, easy ways to improve your mild outbreaks. Even drinking eight glasses of water a day has been said to improve acne in some cases due to the fact that water carries waste material out of your body – including your face.

Cures for Acne: Final Assessment

Though there are many great treatment options for your acne outbreaks, it is important to keep the word “cure” in perspective. There is no miracle drug that will miraculously wipe out your acne forever after just one dose. However, once you are able to find the right medication, your acne may be cured for a period of time. It is important to stay strong during the battle against acne throughout your teenage years because this is the time when your hormones are raging and bodily changes are taking place. Most people with heavy acne throughout their teens don’t experience the acne problem their entire lives. Acne outbreaks will typically subside by your mid-twenties.

Don’t get depressed if you didn’t find any miracle cures for acne yet. Why? Because there are great acne treatment options like laser removal that look both effective and promising. For everyone dealing with acne, the word “cure” should be defined as a having the determination to never give up in the battle against your acne. There are currently new acne treatments being evaluated such as microdermabrasion that you can read about. Resources to recommended acne articles are included below. It is important to be aware that most things marketed as "acne cures" are nothing more than scams.
