Like a lot of people that suffer from acne, I've literally tried every product available. There are so many options for treating acne that it can be really confusing to know which one to choose.

Luckily, there are a lot of acne home treatments that can help you clear up breakouts and keep your skin blemish free.

Acne home treatments use products that are natural and easily available in health food or grocery stores.

These won't replace a consistent skin care routine (consistency is the most important part of treating acne), but they can help with the occasional breakout or to improve the overall appearance of your skin.

Acne Home Treatments

Tea tree oil

Tea tree oil is well-known for its anti-bacterial properties and it really works to dab it on active, inflamed pimples. You can also make an effective astringent by diluting tea tree oil with water and applying it all over your face with a cotton ball.

Oatmeal mask

Oatmeal is an effective exfoliant and works well to clean out your pores. Cook the oatmeal until it’s soft, let it cool, then apply to your face. Leave it on for 10-15 minutes then rinse with warm water.

Egg yolk mask

This may sound strange, but an egg yolk mask for acne can actually work. Egg yolks are very rich in Vitamin A, which is an important vitamin to help your skin heal and renew itself. Separate an egg, then apply a think layer of yolk to the face. Let it dry for about 10 minutes, then rinse with warm water.

Milk

Milk has lactic acid, which soothes and softens skin and refines pores. Simply wash your face with 2% milk (fat free milk doesn’t work as well) and see if it works for you.

Green tea

There was a scientific study a few years ago that showed that green tea was just as effective as salicylic acid in reducing redness and inflammation. There are lots of ways you can use the power of green tea at home: you can brew yourself some green tea and use the cooled liquid as an astringent or you can wet a tea bag and use it to spot treat a particularly stubborn area.

Healthy diet & lots of water

This isn’t the most exciting home treatment, but ultimately, your skin reflects what’s going on inside your body. If you eat a healthy diet with lots of fruits, vegetables, and whole grains and keep yourself well hydrated, your skin will thank you.
