The Pros and Cons of Acne Laser Treatment
69Acne Laser Treatment
Is acne laser treatment for you? Well, it’ll depend on what you value and how much work you want to do to get rid of your adult or adolescent acne. Many people will be able to reduce or eliminate acne with generic acne products that can be bought in grocery stores and drug stores. Some people are cursed to have acne for their whole lives. The people who have chronic acne tend to feel hopeless and have to live with acne scars their whole lives. Acne scars are caused by the person picking, popping, and how the skin responds to the bacteria that is infesting the face. Acne scar treatments in the past required the patient to come in for chemical peels, plastic surgery and harsh abrasion treatments. However, in the present era, there are more options for treating acne stars through laser technology.
This technology use lasers that shoot a high intensive powered laser into the pimple and blackhead to permanently eliminate the blemish. This procedure can be quite painful and treatments are usually broken up into multiple sessions. People that use this treatment usually appear to have an extremely bad sunburn on their face, but this appearance will go away after some rest. Another type of treatment uses lasers to shrink the oil glands to shrink which will reduce the amount of oil produced on your face. One of the major reasons why people get acne is because their sebaceous glands secret too much oil and clog up the hair follicles in the face. There may be some skin discoloration and redness, but other than that, there are no that many side effects to shrinking the oil glands in the face. The benefit of performing this surgery for people is that the effects of the treatment are highly favorable for the patient, and the patient will see results immediately. The recovery time for this type of treatment is usually less than a week and is less painful than chemical peels. Topical creams and prescription products will take a long time and can become costly over time (with little to no effect for some people). Lastly, if you do not have acne and would like work done, there are options to use lasers on your face for wrinkles, facial blemishes, and minor scars.
Many people might be dissuaded by the price of acne laser treatment as treatments usually run around five hundred to seven hundred dollars depending on how much treatment you need and how long the treatments are. However, you must think about short term and long term costs of acne treatments. If you decide to use acne prescription medicine, this might cost you a lot of money over time and you might not see results for a long time as well. The same goes for expensive creams and face washes. If you add up all of these products over time, and they don’t work, you will end up paying a lot over a few years. Also, you must think about the effectiveness of over the counter products compared to acne laser treatments.
You might think that laser treatment for acne is a miracle cure for acne, but remember that everything is not perfect. Depending on how bad your acne is, it might take a few treatments to fix your face. Also, since you face needs to “rest” between laser treatments, then you might not see your acne clear up for at least a few months. When treatments become too expensive, it might be time to switch to alternative acne treatments.
There is typically less pain, less complications and less blood with laser treatment compared to derma abrasion treatments and plastic surgery. How do lasers make your face pretty? One type of treatment uses lasers to stimulate skin growth under the acne scars. Another type of surgery actually uses the laser to burn the acne scar tissue to reduce the blemish. Once the scar tissue is burned away, your skin will start to produce additional new, healthy skin.
