Developing acne symptoms is not the end of the world. Nowadays it can be cured easily. However, you should not pay attention to all the myths, rumors and claims about acne that you hear everywhere and from anybody. Many people will try to give you good advice how to get rid of it. Unfortunately, many of the home remedies are pure non-sense and can even be harmful. The one and only home remedy that might work to some extent is apple cider vinegar, but there are other better ways to treat acne.

Acne is basically the outbreak of a skin oil, called sebum. Sebum is accumulated on your skin and a cause for acne scarring. The first step of the body is inflammation, our white bloods cells try to protect our skin from infections.

Acne Myths revealed:

  • Truth: Tanning masks your acne, but is more harmful than helpful and can lead to skin cancer.

  • Oily foods like pizza do not cause acne (too much of them is not healthy, but there is no evidence that it is a cause of acne)

  • Chocolate will not make your acne worse, although some people claim that their body produces more sebum after eating chocolate

  • Myth: Washing your face frequently can lower your acne symptoms

  • Squeezing out the puss out of the pimple will not help you to get rid of acne, it will make things even worse by tripling the bacteria on your skin. More bacteria means that inflammation will be increased.

  • Makeup will not be harmful, although you should not buy poor quality makeup

  • Truth: Medication can be a cause of acne breakouts
