Adult or Teen Acne can be a very frustrating time for many. Acne remedies range from homemade concoctions to very harsh medications such as Accutane. A new medication was introduced in early 2009 combining two very effective acne fighting medications into one acne solution in the form of a gel. This medication is called Epiduo.

Epiduo has two acne fighting agents. The first is Benzoyl Peroxide, which fights the bacteria that can cause acne breakouts at very early stages. The second ingredient is Adapalene, which is similar to a Rent-A derivative that help exfoliate and shed dead skin cells to prevent pores from becoming blocked. Both these medicines are integrated into an easily applied once daily gel. The Benzoyl Peroxide is only a 1.5% solution, which help to prevent excessive dryness.

When switching acne medications and starting a new regimen, it is import to remember that acne medication can take from 4 - 6 weeks before results are observed. Epiduo has some minor side effects, such as dryness, slight redness, and sometimes tingling or a slight burning sensation when first used. After about 5 to 7 days of use, these syptoms will reside if they occurred in the first place.

Results from both teen acne and adult acne patients have been very positive. Epiduo seems to be one step closer to the all time acne cure or acne solution.

A typical person using Epiduo should follow a basic routine. The most common routine for Epiduo use is outline below.

Morning:

• Wash fash with gentle cleanser, such as Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser
• For men, shave after washing in the shower or at the sink with a gentle cleanser
• Apply a daily moisturize such as Cetaphil Daily Facial Moisturize with SPF to protect the skin from sun damage. Epiduo can make your skin more sensitive to sun exposure

Evening (prior to bedtime):

• Wash fash with gentle cleanser, such as Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser
• Apply a thin layer of Epiduo to each area of the face. Use a pea size amount for each area on the face (forehead, right side of the face, left side of the face, and chin)
• If you suffer excessively dry skin, you can apply a light facial moisturizing cream 15 - 30 minutes after applying the Epiduo. This will help to avoid flaky dry skin the next morning.
