Acne Treatments :: Cleocin T vs. Benzoyl Peroxide
67Acne Treatments - Cleocin T vs. Benzoyl Peroxide (Clearasil, Oxy)
Acne has been once the most dreaded word in the lexicon of teenagers; but not anymore! It is normally caused due to excess sebum production or the rapid production of P. acnes. Usually acne pop up on face but can also occur in other parts of the body. Most of you will be tempted to pop or squeeze to get rid of it. Nonetheless squeezing can at times aggravate the problem resulting in permanent scars on your face. Today, an array of acne treatment is available and most of the medications are easily available in a chemist shop. In cases of serious infections, it is better to take the advice of a dermatologist.
There are many medicines used to control acne. Cleocin T is chemically Clindamycin and is applied twice a day for acne. It may take up to 12 weeks for complete recovery. Wash and pat dry your face, before applying this medicine. Take special care to see that the medicine do not enter your eyes and mouth or on broken skin.
In some cases, adverse events are reported in patients such as diarrhea, bloody diarrhea and colitis. In case of any such indications seek immediate medical aid.
Benzoyl Peroxide is one of the top five recommended treatments for mild acne, including whiteheads and blackheads; making acne fully treatable with Benzoyl Peroxide. It is not just an antiseptic that keeps the skin free from bacteria and yeasts but also is an oxidizing agent that drains acne on the skin surface thereby reducing the swelling of the infected pustules. Available in a cleansing liquid or bar, lotion, cream and gel, it is an easily available over-the-counter medication. Watch out while applying, as this product has a bleaching effect on hair and clothing. It is advisable to keep away from harsh sunlight and strong cosmetics while you are on this medication. You should see palpable change within 4-6 weeks of application.
Some of the common adverse reactions may include dryness of the treated area, irritation, swelling or redness; in case of such events take doctor's advice immediately.
Clinical studies have found that the efficacy of both these medicines in treating acne has been some what same. Nonetheless, Benzoyl peroxide had an edge in treating non-inflamed lesions whereas Cleocin T had no effect on these lesions. The healing time was also faster in the case of Benzoyl peroxide.
The bottom line being that what works for one person may not work for another. Play safe and get the right medication suiting your skin type from your doctor.

There are many causes of adult acne; some of them are stress, bad cosmetics, hormones, and birth control pills. Stress harms your oil glands to overcompensate. On the other hand, bad cosmetics are related to bacteria-laden pores. Hormone is harmful for sebaceous glands to overact and birth control pills.
