Biography

Deepika Padukone, daughter of former all england badminton champion and Prakash Padukone,is a contemporary indian actress and a supermodel. She was born on 5th of january, 1986 in Copenhegen, capital of Denmark. She has a younger sister,Anisha, an aspiring golfer.

Her early appearances in print and TV media are made through advertisement campaigns

for Liril, Close-up and Limca. She was made brand ambassador for Jewels Of India,an annual jewelry exhibition.

Her modelling career hit the international scene when famous cosmetics company Maybelline made her their new international cover-girl face. Soon she bagged many prestigious awards and accolades, including 'Model of the year' awarded at the fifth annual Kingfisher Fashion Awards. In 2006, she was chosen as one of the models to appear in the Kingfisher Swimsuit calendar, owning herself glory of a supermodel.

Among other recent awards are two trophies at the Idea Zee F Awards(2006)-

'female model of the year' and 'Fresh Face of the year'.

Padukone was born to Ujjala and Prakash Padukone on January 5, 1986 in Copenhagen, Denmark. Her family moved to Bangalore when she was only eleven months old. Her father Prakash Padukone is a badminton player of international repute, while her mother is a travel agent. Furthermore, Padukone has a younger sister, Anisha (b.1991), who is an aspiring golfer.

Padukone attended Sophia High School in Bangalore. She completed her studies from Mount Carmel College. While in high school she played badminton at the state level like her father and was a member of her father's badminton club. However, she wasn't keen on pursuing a career as a badminton player and abandoned it because of her ICSE exams.
