If you maintaining a Wordpress blog, you would be definitely interested in tracking your site performance with Google Analytics as the Google Analytics provide the tools which help the webmasters and the marketers to determine which ads are performing, and which are not, as well as finding the source of quality visitors.

But you must have wondered how to track the Wordpress blog.

It's not that difficult to add your wordpress blog to Google Analytics provided you know which file to modify.

The procedure is as follows:-

1. If you do not have a account with Google Analytics, goto to Google Analytics webpage by clicking here . Sign up for an account.

2. Login to your account at Google Analytics.

3. Submit your Wordpress blog URL by clicking on Add Website Profile. Select Time Zone Country and Time Zone and click on Continue.

4. Now Google Analytics will generate Legacy Tracking Code (urchins.js).

5.Select this tracking code with mouse and copy it to clipboard and click on Finish.

6. Now log on to your Wordpress account using your username and password.

7. In your Wordpress account click on Presentation.

8. Next click on Theme Editor.

9. Now open file footer.php from the list of files on the right side, in the Theme Editor for editing.

10. Locate tag in the footer.php and paste your Google Analytics tracking code just before tag.

11. Click on Update File button.

Now your Wordpress blog has been added to Google Analytics. Please be patient as you will have to wait for few hours before Google Analytics will start displaying the statistics.
