How To SEO:: Adsense Content Filter:: How to Filter Adsense Article Adverts
73How to SEO, How To Maximise Adsense
How to seo is about to show you a way to maximise your earnings. Now making money with adsense isn't as easy as it first appears. You sign up for an account. You see adsense google ads and you think that it won't be long before you earn with google too. It isn't as easy as that, is it? There's adsense information everywhere but you feel overwhelmed by it all. So you login and attempt to manage your google adsense account. Other users seem to manage, why can't you? This article is an attempt to teach you how to use and manage the adsense filtering system to get rid of those unwanted adverts. Okay it is just one piece of information amongst a load, but it is a start! I want to make this article user friendly and teach you how to manage the adsense filtering system confidently.
To Earn From Google Adsense Requires Skill
Users have to manage adsense adverts by filtering them
Filtering adverts is one of the many tasks that are essential to successful click through rates. Clicks come from your readership. At the end of the day, it is Adsense advertisements that pay for your articles to be there in the first place. It is all very good providing quality information or wonderful stories, but an income stream has to come from somewhere even if it is just to pay for the electricity used to help create it.
Here you are and you notice a gleaming pair of teeth on an
article about Istanbul or ‘Indian Dating – Find the perfect match for you!’ on
a hub about rocket science. It is a
complete waste of space, not only for you but the advertiser too… surely?! Users have to manage these and filter them out of their articles.
This Adsense Information Can Be Used For HubPages and Your Own Website
This is where you need to manually filter these irrelevant advertisements. The following instructions are centred on the Hubpages platform, but can be used for independent websites that you might have on the Internet.
Firstly, however, you need to have an up and running Google Adsense account. If you haven’t already done this please click on this link for more information and sign up. Secondly, make sure you have another window open with the hub containing the offending Adsense ads. Leave this open.
Users Manage To Filter via Adsense Set Up Tab
Log into your Google Adsense account. You can do this via your Hubpages ‘My Account’. Under ‘Affiliate Settings’ and ‘Check Your Google Earnings’
After you have logged into your account, look under the ‘Adsense Set up’ tab you will see ‘Competitive Ad Filter’. Click on this. Scroll down under ‘Adsense For Content Filters’ – there you will see a blank box.
Competitive Ad Filter Screen Shot
Be Aware.. Click Fraud! Adsense will Close Your Account even if you accidently click on an Ad!
Now, go back to article window containing the offending Adsense ad. Right click and highlight the address bar of the ad and copy the link. This is tricky because part of the terms of service, or TOS, in your Adsense contract states that you mustn’t click on the adverts fraudulently – even by mistake could be considered fraudulent, so be careful here. Any suggestion of click fraud and Adsense will close your account without explanation!
Return to your Google Adsense page and paste the address into the box. Save the changes and you are done!

Want Clarification? Watch the Below Video on the Adsense Content Filter
Now the following video has an example of how it is done in a visual context. I hope that this will help to clarify the procedure. The example is to demonstrate the procedure and not for political or religious interest. I chose this because it is easy to understand. I would like to thank Karimabaz of the Muslim Blogger for making this available.

Janiek - Only if you click through. This is why you have to be very careful that you don't open the ad's address. You highlight the link or URL (web address), once highlighted, CAREFULLY right click, then copy it, ready for transfer to the adsense filter. It is tricky, but with gentle handling, can be done.

Sounds kinda nerve wracking...
shazwellyn-
How do you know which ads to filter? Also, I signed up for she told me and...something else, but I can't figure out how to copy the url they give me to my hub, am I doing something wrong? Can you tell I'm very new at this?
Thanks,
Cassidy
I must admit I'm a bit lost with this, so I will bookmark it for future use. Thanks for sharing
Just be slow and careful Janiek... it will be alright! x
Hi Cassidy...
How do you know which ads to filter? - When you have completed a hub, you have left it for a few days for the ads to kick in, you might get an ad that you don't like, conflicts with your hubs or don't seem to be performing well - these are the ones that you want to block. I don't really like, for example 'single's chat' ads. So I block them. Does that make sense?
'signed up for she told me and...something else, but I can't figure out how to copy the url they give me to my hub'... firstly, it isn't wise to put same URL addresses multiple times on hubpages - it will lower your authorscore. You are best to put the link in your profile page and redirect people from your hub to your profile. Links like this are better here.
Secondly, if you want to put an address in your hubs, you write something like... 'If you want further information, click here' in the hub. Then highlight 'click here', look on top of the text capsule you will see a two linked chain symbol. Click on this. A new window will come up and you will see a box line for you to enter the www. address. Once saved you will see the 'click here' will be highlighted in blue in your text capsule. Your external link has been added.
I hope this helps! x
JayJay... If you take the instructions verbatim, you won't have any problems. You need to do it to learn it! Good luck my friend! x
You are just wonderful explaining this Shaz, thanks so much now I understand it all a little better.
Two months here and I still consider myself an extreme newbie...and will probably remain thus way even in two years! I really appreciate this helpful hub and slowly, ever so slowly, am beginning to understand the intricacies of hub life!
Thanks for a great hub, Shaz!

Very useful information. Im going to bookmark it for the future. Im going to have to go through my ads that never get clicked and see if I can fix some.
michiganman - Im glad it will be useful to you and glad to have been of help! Thanks x
Hi Shaz I did the filtering thing a while back on my e-cigarette hubs because I didn't want dodgie e-cig ads on the page. It worked for a while, but then they came back so I think you need to do regular maintenance on your adsense stuff. I've been way too slack on all my other hubs so I will use your great easy guidelines to get things eliminated. Thanks again for a valuable Hub.
Hi Hillary. Is the website still on your 'blocked list' - Adsense For Content Filters? It should still be there - they shouldnt disappear from this list. It should still work if it is listed in the blocked list!
Is it another or different website flogging the same type of thing? This is worth checking. I have found a couple of similar ads in sex chat type sites.
Let me know!
good info thanks
entertainment... Im glad it is useful to you. Thanks for visiting - come back soon! x
Hi shaz. Checked my adsense account and I stand corrected. It seems it takes a while for the system to get going. Also, so many new ads are slipped in to replace the ones I deleted!
One good thing I just discovered is the filter block link for those ads that don't have a link. Just right click the offending title and it shows up as "adblock plus adframe". They disappear immediately! Thanks for getting me going on this! My aim is to block competing vendors since I am promoting Green Smoke on my e-cig sites.
Brilliant Hillary! Now you have added this extra information onto my hub, you have helped more people! Brilliant... thanks for sharing the loooooove! x
Thank you so much, this really helps!
Cassidy... this is what it is all about.. to help each other! x
Just give ya a big thumbs up and must add ya to my Facebook wen I get home x
