How you may make a money on your photos [updated]
63Advices from ExclusiveDesktop: try to sell your photos [updated]
So, now we have a regular weekend, and i'll try to tell how you can sell your photos on fotolia.com. Today instead of publishing photos like this -http://hubpages.com/hub/Exclusive_Desktop_18_17_16_Aug
i want a publish only a "text" Hub.
By means of Fotolia.com is sevice you can register, upload you photos and suggest it for sale. If you have a lot of interesting photos from rest, travel, and other, you may to upload it to fotolia.com and try to sell it. How to start?
You must to have:
1) digital camera at least of 3 megapixels
2) interesting subject for photos
I have a simple, but very useful 3 megapix camera from Panasonic. The smallest resolution which approved by Fotolia is 1600x1200 pixels, for this image 3mpx camera is more than enough.
1) So, advice number 1:
Try to make largest resolution, more resolution - more money. So, price of more than 15MP image is 4$, but 1.9 MP(1600x1200) is only 1$. Look prices here: http://www.fotolia.com/info/tarif.php
But large image need a good camera and, of course, some money.
2) Advice number 2:
To be patient! It is a standart advice for every blogger who want to achieve success. So, fotolia has a rating system for photographers. To get a second from start, "bronze" level, you need to upload 100 photos. So, first your 100 photos will have a little price from 1..4$. On "bronze" level you income will mulpiply by 5.
Also you need to read a fotolia's terms and conditions (http://www.fotolia.com/user/show_agreement.php?id=&type=HTML&mode=cgu) and approve it.
For example,
Conditions of Use "My photo does not contain recognizable people without a model release [learn more] I am the author of the photo and own all artistic elements in the image. My photo does not contain trademarks or elements protected by industrial or intellectual property laws [learn more] My photo corresponds to the type of photos searched for by Fotolia customers [learn more]"
You can't upload pornography, photos with rape and a lookalike materials.
2 new moments:
1) After uploading you need waiting about 1-2 day(s) while your photos will "approved" by service,
or, unforrunately, pictures may be declined. I has upload 2 photos and only 1 photo was approved. One of the reasons of this, may be, that i has delete this photo myself firstly, and upload it again some days later. After that this photo was declined (service has one picture for both status: "declined" and deleted "day").
So, now i have a link to my own "Jonathan Lingviston seagull" - http://www.fotolia.com/id/1117553 (as an illustration for a book by Richard Bach - http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Richard_Bach):
2) It;s impossible to edit keywords and descriptionfor the photo which was uploaded previously.
Need to think through all tags beforehand.
3) Look for an unique subject for photos.
Fotolia said, that service already has a lot of photos of "nature" or "home pets".This subjects not interesting for this service more. Of course, you buy a camera and make some photos of your dog. This photo may be very interesting for you, but not insteresting for other people on the world. But, if you does't a famoust and popula a photographer, will be difficult for you to sell such photos. Look an unique places when you travel, look an interestibg subjects everywhere. Everybody who is not a professional can make a very interesting photo.
4) Learn photographing. Now every (may be even low-cost) camera has some interesting features, which not used by 90% of photograpers. It is a your "secret weapon". Learn instruction for you camera. May be, by a book about digital photographing. And make, make, make photos. In any case, you have a 100 first attempts on fotolia with low royalty. Practice, practice and practice again.
5) Learn photos of top (amateur) photographers.
(http://www.fotolia.com/ranking/) In conclusion: iIt was a short text about only one photo-selling service in the Web.
Latest advice: look for a list of such services and sign up in some of them, not one.

It depends on photosite rules. Need to read a rules of site. For example,
this case may be enabled on Fotolia and disabled on Flicr etc.
But i think that you can edit :)
yes, you can edit your pictures and it's usually not only accepted but even suggested by microstock sites, to obtain perfectly isolated object, pure white backgrounds...only pay attention not to introduce artifacts, always save in a lossless format while editing (eg .tif, .bmp) and then resave in .jpg at highest quality / lowest compresssion
