Affiliate Marketing
61My leap into Affiliate Marketing
Well I have done it I have started my journey into Affiliate Marketing it’s taken a few weeks to find an area that I liked.
I love to read soAmazon seemed a good place to start, the second thing I love to do is Travel, I often take flights to see my Sons so something to do with travel and flights seemed to be appropriate so that seemed like another good place to start. I thought it would be best to start with names that are known and trusted
The one thing is not to give up and I can tell you it can become very frustrating especially when you are trying to find your way around the traffic sites there are so many which one to go with, the answer, choose a few to start with just surf to get your credits so you can add your links, then as you become more confident start to purchase your credits believe me it is not too expensive and it makes it so much easier.
I was not going to jump into anything, and wanted to check things out before doing anything, so be prepared to spend the time looking go with what you feel comfortable and trust your instincts.
Always remember if it sounds too good to be true it most likely is, so don’t go with it, find something with realistic figures you are more likely to be on the right track then and not get yourself into trouble.
If you are going to take this step then take a good look around talk to people write your questions down and ask them.
I dont know it all I am just starting out but feel my earnings will increase with time

Good luck to you. So that's how the amazon works. Guess I have to watch the video too. =)
Wonderful story. As we are already used to your writing style. I believe that there is so much information in stories like these. If everybody would tell their stories like that, there would be no important "secrets" left in the dust for newbies.
Thanks

Hi Ambersky,
Since you are new to affiliate marketing, I wanted to pass along some info to you about Amazon's affiliate program. I am an affiliate with them, but only use a book widget that specifically relates to an article I may write on a page in a few of the websites I have.
Amazon provides a 1day guillotine cookie to its affiliates (read their affiliate info). This means your cookie lasts only 1 day if someone clicks on your ad. If they don't buy within the 1 day and return to Amazon the next day - even if your cookie is still there - you don't earn a commission. The guillotine part of it? If they buy something that first day and complete the sale, then decide that evening to make another purchase, you don't get a commission on the second sale.
It is difficult, though not impossible to make money with them. Just don't be surprised when you see your affiliate report from them showing a ton of clicks with little sales credited.
Also, you have a hub here, but no hyper-links for your affiliate account (such as Amazon). Get your affiliate code and link the word "Amazon" to Amazon with your affiliate code.
As much as you write about traveling and Austalia, you might want to think about creating your own website. This would allow you to become an affiliate with other companies that would earn you far more with longer lasting cookies (like eBay, Barnes and Noble Books, etc.).
Have sent some friends this video on Youtube. May give you some idea about what would be involved with your own website. Honesty is refreshing.
