It is quite normal to join most affiliate programs for free, after all you are selling their products so be warned about those that ask for a one off membership charge. If you are new to this it is best you stay with companies that are reliable; two such are: Clickbank and Paypal (from ebay) both of which allow you to become a member at no cost although they do charge a small fee for transactions. Remember this is the early part of your affiliate marketing venture so you do not need (or want) to experiment unnecessarily; there will be plenty of time to do that when you are more established.

The biggest problem when you are new at marketing affiliate products is finding good online help; care must be taken because it is easy to get information overload but there are sites and ebooks to help you. Do not concern yourself about the number of url's you see in ebooks, some but not all, have affiliate links for the author; you are unde no obligation to buy anything. It is easy to spend a great deal of money when you start before you have made your first dollar if you are not careful; start by using whatever free resources you can at first. This can benefit you because if the free programs etc. work for you, you are more likely to buy from the supplier at a later date.

Where possible in you affiliate marketing business, use alternative forms of advertising to increase your exposure and direct people to your site that might otherwise have missed it. If you provide people with the information they require and point them towards your affiliate website, you cannot go far wrong. Just about every affiliate marketer needs to know what advertising methods driving traffic to their site is working so they use tracking techniques and then drop the methods that are not working. There is a huge amount of freedom associated with affiliate marketing and the potential earnings are massive, but this can take many years to build up. A great deal of information is out there but you are warned about some which will be out of date or misleading.
