I would hope that new Internet marketers do not have to go through the experiences my wife and I have had to go through to learn about affiliate marketing.We have tried dozens of various programs. We spent a lot of money on products many of which we could have found for free.

One of our first experiences was purchasing a replicated website.It was expensive and also cost a monthly fee. You could say we fell for a fast one and I guess that would be true.We never had a signup. I am certain folks make money with these types of sites but there are probably few successful beginners, in fact, I would bet most of these sites are sold to mainly begginers.Of course another affiliate site that claims fortune and fame are the power line replicating web sites. We never had any success with those either. Getting folks to sign up for anything has always been difficult unless of course you are giving something away that people feel could benefit them.

We learned the giveaway concept from other marketers and found that it does work well. It is better than any other method we have tried. Even if folks don't purchase or upgrade at your site they are still left with a free valuable product. There are definitely some excellent free giveaways Take for an example the Roboform, it has been downloaded over 11 million times for free and saves anyone using a computer time by storing and encrypting their passwords. Before someone gave us this product we had a pile of notebooks with our passwords written in them. It was a time consuming nightmare to look up our pass codes. We eventually upgraded because you are allowed up to ten pass codes for free and we had many more.

Learning about internet and affiliate marketing has been a rocky road but we our finding ourselves improving considerably by following the techniques that well known and successful marketers have been using for years. We also try to thoroughly check out the sites that we sign up with and make sure they are well established and a reputable company or individual.

Perhaps free is not always better but it has certainly helped us in a lot of cases.
