Affiliate Marketing

Affiliate marketing is a very enticing way to make money online. It involves selling other peoples' products online. There is no physical product you have to handle, no worrying about shipping and handling, and no customer service that you have to offer. It's a very rewarding business that you can start from your very home with very low start up costs.

Does that mean it's easy? No.

Compared to a traditional brick-and-mortar business, it is a very simple business to operate, but there are little details here and there that you need to acquaint yourself with to become genuinely successful.

In order to truly become a power affiliate marketer you need to know how to find the right products to sell, how to promote them in ways that will bring you a residual income from sales for years to come, how to keep yourself ahead of competition, and much more.

The great thing is that there are sources available that will guide you through your journey to becoming the successful affiliate marketer that you long to be.

It takes effort and patience, but it is possible to earn a very healthy full-time income from it. There are affiliate marketers that make six figure salaries who use it as a full-time job. They are the ones that take it seriously. They treat being an affiliate marketer as their own personal business. This is the way to go if you're looking for true success.

Affiliate marketing is also a great way to produce a part-time income in your free time.

Whether your goal is to just make a few hundred dollars in extra income each month or to earn a full time living, you can accomplish it with affiliate marketing. And I'm going to show you bits and pieces of information to help you accomplish those goals.

Getting Started in Affiliate Marketing

This is a simple step-by-step guide to get you on your feet and get the ball rolling with affiliate marketing.

First off, you're going to want to start affiliate accounts with these affiliate programs:

  • Commission Junction (cj.com)
  • Clickbank (clickbank.com)
  • Plimus (plimus.com)

These three programs are among the largest and most trustworthy affiliate programs available on the web. Each boasts similar setups, but each is also unique in the products that are available to promote, the way statistics are tracked, and several other factors that set each program apart from another.

Once you've made your accounts, you're ready! Right?

Not quite.

One thing you don't want to do is jump into this without doing some research. How do you get good at anything?

You learn about it first, of course!

Research is a big part of becoming a successful affiliate marketer. The more you know, the better.

This not only to affiliate marketing itself, but it also applies to each and every product that you're going to promote in the future. The more you research, the more you'll be able to provide quality content that will eventually turn viewers into buyers. (We'll learn more about this later on!)

What Do I Research?

What of the first things that you need to know is what affiliate marketing is.

What is Affiliate Marketing?

Affiliate marketing is the business of promoting and selling other peoples' products for commissions. That's probably the most simplistic way to explain it to anyone that doesn't know a thing about what affiliate marketing is.

One thing that you really need to grasp a hold of right away is that this is NOT a get rich quick scheme.

While you do have the opportunity to start making a healthy income with affiliate marketing even in your first week, this doesn't mean you will become a millionaire overnight.

One other thing that you should take heed of is that affiliate marketing is a job.

And guess what? A JOB IS A JOB.

And it takes time, effort, and work to be successful.

But there are resources that are available even online that can help you become a successful super affiliate and guide you to making the amount of money that you want to.

How To Become A Super Affiliate

What Is A Super Affiliate?

A super affiliate is someone who generates a significant amount of profits for the products or services they promote through affiliate marketing. A super affiliate can make a healthy living from their affiliate business alone while a standard every day affiliate may need to supplement their affiliate income with a normal hourly paid job out in the real world workforce. Sucks, doesn't it?

Benefits of Being A Super Affiliate

The most significant benefit to being a super affiliate is the income. Many super affiliates make six figure incomes solely from promoting affiliate products and services online. Sounds tasty, right?

Additionally, if you’re one of the main contributors to a company’s affiliate program they’re going to pay attention to you and your needs. You may receive a higher percentage of sales you may receive first shot with new marketing materials and programs and you’ll get the support you need when you need it.

You'd be surprised at how large the bonuses are for top affiliates. Some programs even offer %100 commission on a certain number of sales after you've sold a good amount of their product. And believe me, it's well worth your time.

Steps To Becoming A Super Affiliate:

Step One – Commit to publishing content every single day. Content has proven time and again to be the best sales tool available to affiliate marketers. Nothing, not even strategically placed ad copy works as well as providing quality content that pre-sells any product that you’re promoting on your website.

Now, just because you pump out a lot of content doesn't mean you'll be ahead in the game. You have to produce quality content.

This means if your content isn't unique, informative, and useful, you can pretty much expect to be at the bottom of the traffic chain even if you put out new content every single day.

A statement I've made that sums it uppretty well, I think : Without Quality There will be no Quantity.

Possible content includes:

  • Autoresponders (want an idea of what this is? Check out aweber.com)
  • E-newsletters
  • Blog posts
  • Social networking via forums, social networking sites, and chat rooms
  • Articles
  • Press releases

Just using a couple of these content types can help you increase traffic that will drive sales through the roof if done right. Use them all and regularly produce fresh content to each and you're looking at a gold mine.

Step Two – Track and test. Make sure you know where your prospects are coming from, what motivates them to click through and what information they read and respond to – then give them what they need. Tracking and testing is the only way to hone your affiliate program into a smooth running, money making machine.

Step Three – Use the provided marketing materials and be willing to take it a step further. Many affiliate programs do a great job of providing their affiliate with ready to marketing materials including:

1. Banner ads
2. Buttons
3. Email copy
4. Articles
5. Free promotional reports

Use the materials your affiliate manager has provided. It’s been tested and developed for results. That being said, be sure to create your own content too. Even as an affiliate you are your own company and your website needs to reflect your personality and brand. Building a community around your website and providing valuable content is a sure way to create a following that trusts you and your credibility – which will result in click throughs and affiliate sales.

Step Four – Pre-sell. The good news is that your job as an affiliate is to pre-sell products and services. Pre-selling means your content, whether it is a review, article, tutorial, course, or blog post, speaks honestly about the products and services you promote. Pre-selling is about providing value to your website visitors and prospects, making them comfortable with you and your authority to generate interest and a click through to the company website, where the selling happens.

Step Five – Follow up. Just like your affiliate manager follows up with you to see how you’re doing and what you need, follow up with your prospects. A great way to do this unobtrusively is to create a lead list by providing a newsletter visitors can subscribe, a free report, or any number of products in exchange for an email address and the permission to contact them with valuable information and special promotions.

Being a Super Affiliate is the only way to go if you want to build a successful affiliate marketing business. Find products and services you trust and believe in and then create a strategy to share information to your target audience. Test and track your efforts, focus on providing value to your prospects and leave the selling to the companies you represent. Helping others live better lives, without having to provide the products or services personally, is a great way to make a living.

It does take time. SEO is a great way to pick up loads of traffic and have your sites rank well. Unfortunately, it doesn't happen overnight. There are many things you can do to improve SEO, though. Simple things that can help boost your ranking in searches. But as I said before, it takes time. You can make your site immaculate in SEO and it will still take a few weeks or even a couple of months for you to start seeing results.
