How to use affirmations for success in the correct way to control our thoughts and feelings and create the results we desire.

There are several tools available that we can use to help us create our desired reality or goals through the thoughts that we have. The use of affirmations for success is one important tool that we can use to control our thoughts and feelings in order to ensure that we achieve our goals and desires. It is important to understand how to use affirmations for success in the correct way in order to achieve your goals. If affirmations for success are used in the worry way, then they can actually have negative consequences.

It is a universal law that our thoughts create our reality or more specifically our thoughts create the results, both positive and negative, that we see in our lives, both personal and professional. To quickly summarize how our thoughts create our reality: our programming or the beliefs that were instilled in us as children through society create our thoughts. Further, our thoughts create our feelings. In turn, our feelings create our actions. And our actions obviously create our results. For example, if a person was raised to believe that all rich people are evil, then that belief produces within that person negative thoughts regarding wealth, money, and rich people. These thoughts, in turn, create specific feelings of dislike towards rich people, a feeling of lack of confidence towards creating wealth, and a strong negative feeling towards money in general, such as fear. These feelings will lead this person to actions or lack of action regarding wealth and money and the results will show that this person will remain without wealth and money.

In regards to our professional life, when we have positive thoughts about our job or business, they yield positive feelings, such as feeling motivated, inspired, and confident. These feelings lead us to take inspired action that will undoubtedly lead to positive results. Likewise, when we have negative thoughts about our job or business, these thoughts lead to negative feelings such as doubt, fear, and worry. These feelings lead us to either no action at all or action that is not inspired and well not produce the results we are looking for.

This concept is rather simply. But why do many people fail to manipulate and utilize this universal law in a positive fashion. Perhaps, it is lack of understanding, or maybe just people do not know how to use this law in a positive manner, or maybe people might think that it is just too hard to control their thoughts or change their beliefs. The fact is we have hundreds of thousands of thoughts everyday. How is it that we can control every single thought that runs through our head? Furthermore, how are going to change the programming and limiting beliefs that society put on us as children? The answer is we can control our thoughts through our feelings. It is a lot easier to control our feelings then it is to control the thousands of thoughts that we have or to try to change our beliefs. If we can practice a habit of feeling good, then eventually our limiting beliefs will be replaced by empowering beliefs. The good thing is that we can choose how we feel relatively easy and without much effort.

There are several tools that we can use to help us leverage our thoughts via our feelings, which will eventually create positive results. Gratitude, a positive feeling, is one tool that we can use to control our thoughts byway of our feelings. It is important to always be in a state of gratitude. Visualizations, another tool to leverage our thoughts through our feelings, provides a clear mental picture of our thoughts and the end results we wish to achieve in whatever area of our life we are focusing on. Visualization can be powerful in speeding up the results we get in our life.

In this article, I want to focus on another important tool that we can us to help us with our thoughts. This tool is affirmations. One of the ways we control our feelings is through the use of affirmations. Affirmations can be positive or negative. Negative affirmations are easy to make and hard to notice when we are making them. For example, negative affirmations occur when we say something like:

“Man, I am never going to figure this out.”

“Man, I can’t believe I did that. I am so stupid.”

It is important to recognize and be aware when we make negative affirmations.

Positive affirmations are many times not used among people. If you are a student of personal development, you know that positive affirmations are a good tool that we can use to put us in a positive mood. Some common positive affirmations might be:

“I love my body.”

“I’m a millionaire.”

“My business is booming.”

“I have ideal health.”

However, positive affirmations, if not used correctly, can have negative consequences. But how can this be you might ask? Are they not positive affirmations?

Each time we state an affirmation, we have a particular feeling in regards to the affirmation statement that we just made. As stated at the beginning of this article, the universal law that states that our thoughts create our reality responds to the way we feel. For example, if you use one of the affirmations above, such as “I’m a millionaire” and state this affirmation repeatedly when you are thousands of dollars in debt, then you are creating a negative feeling because in your mind you know that you are not a millionaire and thousands of dollars in debt. Simply put, this affirmation is creating a feeling of doubt in your mind. It is almost like this so-called positive affirmation is acting as a negative affirmation because it is putting you in a negative feeling.

So the question is, how can we use the concept of positive affirmations to control our thoughts and feelings in an effective manner? As seen in the list above, many positive affirmations are stated in the present tense. Again:

“I have a fit body.”

“I’m a millionaire.”

“I have a booming business.” Etc.

The key is instead of stating your affirmations in the present tense, state that you are “in the process . . .” As already seen, positive affirmations in the present tense create doubt and negativity because our conscious mind knows that they are not necessarily true. However, when you say “I’m in the process of. . . ,” then the affirmation becomes true Since the affirmation is true, then it feels good to you and creates within you a positive feeling.

So taking the affirmations we just stated we can change them:

“I’m in the process of creating a booming business.”

“I’m in the process of becoming a millionaire.”

“I’m in the process of having a healthy and fit body.”

Do you see how the emphasis changes with changing the wording of the statement? Can you see how this principle allows us to talk about what we want and how we want to be without creating any doubt in our minds at all because we know that it is a true statement for us. Because you ARE in the process or achieving what you want to achieve. Affirmations for success used in the correct way can go a long way in helping us control our feelings and thoughts and create the desired results we are looking for.
