Looking to setup a home security system but don’t quite have enough money to get it in place?  If you’re at a loss for how to protect your house and family due to a lack of funds, there are still affordable home security measures you can take to make sure you have at least some measure of protection.

I would though strongly advise you to search the Internet for a cheap home security system, however, these tips I’m about to give you are going to be even more affordable home security measures.

So if you want to better protect your house, here’s where you can start:

1.       Your Mailbox

One affordable home security tip for you is to remove your name from the mailbox if it’s on it.  All a would-be thief would have to do is look up the name, get your number then call your house to check to see if you pick up the phone.  If you don’t after several tries, they’ll know you’re away and have the intel needed to make a burglary.  It all starts from 1 source, and your mailbox is one of them.

2.       Your Telephone

Another thing you might want to look into is the volume on your home telephone when it rings.  Some crafty burglars may be stalking outside your house looking for signs that you’re not at home.

One such sign could be the phone ringing without anyone picking up. This is why it’s a good idea to reduce the volume level on your phone so that it can’t alert anyone outside of the house as to whether you’re there or not.

1. Glass Doors

Another affordable home security measure to take is to eliminate any glass doors you have in your house. It would be really easy to break the glass and then reach a hand in to open your lock. Make sure you have solid wooden doors instead. Now if you do have glass, the best thing you could do aside from replacing the door is laminate it. Use #M’s 28 ply ultra safety and security clear film to get the job done.

2. Your Work Shed

I don’t know if you happen to have one, but if you do a work shed could provide a burglar with the tools they need to break into your house. If you have a shed that has a ladder and other instruments, make sure it is locked and not accessible or you could be setting yourself up for some trouble.

Now if you take these affordable home security measures you will improve the security of your house for sure, however it is still nothing compared to even the most cheap home security system. So if you don’t have one already, try looking around the Internet for more information on one.
