I think it's an unspoken rule: whenever the word wedding is added to something, the price skyrockets! If you tell a florist you want wedding flowers, the price triples, whereas if you just told them you need flowers they would be much cheaper.

The same is true for gifts. Affordable wedding gifts are hard to find because everytime someone finds out your in the market for a wedding gift, the price automatically increases. It's like an unspoken rule or something.

Over the years I have attended and helped organize quite a few weddings, and I've learned something about wedding gifts. First, the price of the gift doesn't matter as much as the thought. Second, creative gifts tend to be less expensive and are often better received by the newlywed couple.
