NORSE
Welcome to the Age Of Mythology hints and tips for n00bs tutorial, helping teach all those new to the game the basics in winning games through the race of Norse. My overall goal is to get you beginners to intermediate and even pros in NO TIME AT ALL. Please, read on, noting these are NON-WATER MAPS:
NORSE:
Cheap infantry with a powerful attack but low armour stats, the Norse infantry build all buildings besides farms (their gatheres and dwarves do that). Norse are a great race for a quick, powerful rush early in the game. They have their gatherers which gather all resources, but with a specialty unit called the dwarves which gather gold at an increased rate. The god Thor specialises in his dwarves, and starts with 2 of them at the beginning of the game.
LOKI
Loki (low-key) is a god who specialises in his heroes, the hersirs. A famous battle plan with Loki is his hersir rush, which basically consists of a lot of hersirs (who can summon myth units while battling) attacking early in the game. Hersirs themselves are slow but powerful units, but when given this power to generate myth units in battle, they are literally unstoppable.
When starting your game with Loki, check around your base. What is your food source: chickens (or other hunted animals) or berry bushes? If your answer is berry bushes, instantly send all your given gatherers and ox cart to the bushes without researching anything quite yet. Then train 4 more gatherers to the same berrybushes as the rest. Now explore the CLOSER surrounding area. Try to find more food sources, and cows or sheep, and as your running around drop into your base once in a while when needed to build a house right next to your watch tower. OK, now, after getting those 4 gathers onto food, train an ox cart (Loki gets these at half price) and 2 gatherers and send to the closest trees (a group, not a solitary tree). Once that is done, get 2 more gathers and an ox cart on to a gold mine (preferably the closest). Then train more gatherers and send them the berry bushes, which should be depleted or nearly depleted. If they are depleted, go to your ox cart and upgrade the 'Hunting Dogs' ability. This will help your villagers gather from hunted animals faster etc. Now move all those food gatherers to an animal food source near you (not sheep or cows those, save them for later). Train 2 more gatherers and set them to these sheep or cows. Now get your building ulfsark to build a temple in the middle of you and your enemy (if your enemy is as good in skill or worse than you) or in your base if they are better. Now you should have roughly 11 gathers on food, so train 2 more to be on wood and a few dwarves to be on gold. The Upgrade to the next age. Your aim is to get one hell of an army before the other guy, and hopefully he will resign (if he knows what is good for him).
THOR
A dwarve specialist, many a general has fallen victim to his incredible ability to unexpectadely generate a wealthy economy. There are quite a few starting methods for Thor, one of them i will share which is my favourite. When you start the game, you have 2 dwarves and an ox cart. You also have the dwarven mine power. I like to use this power straight up, so use it first thing and put ONE dwarf on it (make sure its as close to your town centre as possible) and the other dwarf on the closest tree. Send you ox cart to the nearest food supply, and go exploring with your ulfsark. Train 5 gatherers to the food supply, and like above, if the food supply is meat, research the 'Hunting Dogs'. Once you have trained these gatherers, get 2 more dwarves onto the gold mine. train an ox cart and put it on a fresh gold mine, so when you powered mine collapses move thoses dwarves to the new mine. train 2 more gathers with an ox cart to wood, and then get your ulfsark (hopefully he had been building a few houses) to build a temple. Train 4 more gatherers to the food supply and 2 dwarves to the mine. get all your cows/sheep into a pack near your town centre and get 2 more dwarves to get their food. Then upgrade to the next age.
Odin is the other Norse God, and to use him just use Loki's techniques, disregarding the Hersirs, and build a good amount of throwing axemen and raiders (they generate health after a random period of time).

Personnally, I would have to say Hades. this is based on his archers being good against heroes, and the fact the Greeks are expensive but stronger.
why do u only put one dwarf on wood as thor
Dwarfs are like standard villagers on wood and food but excel in gold. by saving ur money u will only need 1 dwarf on wood (who u can later on move away from it and on to gold) and the rest are gatherers.
What is pegus for?
Pegasus are used for scouting. They have no attack but have a large line of sight and are very good to scout out the oppositions base at the beginning of the game (as they dont have many archers besides their own TC).
I play Norse the best, and your tips are useful, but not against another experienced player, especially the Loki tip, it's very easy for the enemy if he was just a good player to stop your attack and probably retaliate and destroy your Temple and slow you down a lot, while he improves to the next age, or he would actually improve to the next age while you are still training Hersis in the Temple, that tip was kinda slow, but it could be VERY useful if playing against a strong player who doesn't know any of your strategies at all, he wouldn't expect that, useful for winning the first game probably.
The tip I like the most is Thor's, but of course I wouldn't play it exactly the same, I would add some of my own style into it.
If you choose to play Random map then your economy tips aren't always to be used, if there is a river or a sea in the map, and you can gather food by fishing, it's MUCH easier for a norse, especially that all your workers need to do is gather food from animals or fruit at the start, then you move them all to make lumber while your dwarves and some more workers can gather gold, but have no workers on food, fishing ships get a lot of food, while you have a good lumber income, when you expand to the next age it's so easy to build farms and overcome your enemy's economy with ease. But you should also know how to maintain your economy with your military expenses while playing such a strategy, you could train only axemen to defend and make sudden attacks on enemey workers (axemen are fast) so you can overcome him even more with economy, while training Hersis from Temple and workers from Settlement, axemen are best defense in first age as well, no army can stop them.
what if I'm playing death match??
you then diseregard most of the tutorial and build teamples and hillforts everywhere, continuosly traing men.
Another thing pegesi are good for is when u have a striking god power (like thunder bolt) You can send 3 to5 9depending on numbers of archers) to fly in and raid. This move ii also good with things like underworld passage.

When using the Dwarvern Mine god power I suggest wating untill the Mythic Age.
I have a better idea for Odin's strategy, sack up on resorses, build a temple and advance to the next age. Now use your ravens to explore, if they find a group of animals close to your town use the Great Hunt God Power then send a Gather or two to get thier food and get two dwarves to gather some gold. Get your Ulsfark to biuld an Armory advance to the Heroic Age biuld a market and advance to the Mythic Age biuld a longhouse and a Hill Fort build all ten houses and a few Town Centers biuld up an army build some wals oround your city if there's some water a dock upgrade evreything to the fullest extent and attack.

Ok first off, the tips you gave are reasonable for an average player but you will never get above 1650 with these strategies, I am currently world number one in vanilla (Aom) and I have been for over 5 years, my user name in aom is magyar_
First off, it is very important to age before your enemy, you want to age to classical in about 5 minutes flat, no longer than 5 min 30 seconds.
This is the build order for all civs and gods.
"Research hunting dogs"
4 villagers on food
2 villagers on gold
2 villagers on wood
2 villagers on food
1 villager or dwarf on gold
1 villager on wood
1 villager on food
BUILD A TEMPLE 3 minutes into game
2 villagers on wood
2 villagers on food
2 villagers or dwarfs on gold
AGE TO CLASSICAL
"Research husbandry"
3 villagers on food
3 villagers or dwarfs on gold
Build Barracks/longhouses/ stables etc. 3-5 or more of each
Build armory
upgrade pick axe and hand axe
NOTE:
Continue making villagers and putting them on various resources depending on what units you're focusing on.
Age to heroic, build tc's asap, murder, attack, kill, win..
I think ur tips r good(every1's) but it's kinda hard to memorize them. I usually just play 3vs1 titan on jotunheim if u could give me some tips for this when i'm using thor or loki i'd appreciate it.(i no to some of u 3vs1titan sounds nooby but i am an average player who plays usually w/ noobs or other medium players)
