Ayurvedic texts have described kachnar as cold, light , dry , and astringent  in effect and taste. Its bark contains tannin, along with a resin of brown colour, where as the seeds yield a volatile oil.   kachnar  acts as a cleanser.The decoction of kachnar bark with a little powder of sonth(ginger powder) is given to patients who have non-specific glandular enlargement. Adding purified guggul into this decoction enhances the effectiveness of this decoction. This is also a safe anti-obesity formulation.consuming boiled leaves and flowers of kachnar by making rayata is a household remedy for dysentery,in which a patient is passing stool mixed with blood. It is also helpful in menstrurational disorders .
In case of prolapse of rectum or umblical cord or utrus prolaspe ,hernia and in bleeding piles, its decoction is  given or its powder is consumed , mouth ulcers and tonsilitis patient if gargles with its warm decoction it will provide a soothing effect.


The usual dosage of dried and crushed parts of kachnar is three to six grams. Fifty ml of its decoction can be consumed at one time, over dose is not good for health
