My very good friend Robert Iveson has created an invention. I though I would share it with you as I think it's really good!

Hunting with an air rifle at night requires some form of lamp to illuminate the target. Traditional lighting systems involve sticking a light on top of the scope which requires trailing leads and a battery pack. Not the most elegant or useful of solutions!

I realised after much trial and error that the best mounting system was to use the the grip of the Mag-Lite itself and mount it directly under the rifle's fore-end. I eventually developed a system of ring mounts that would be easy to fit by drilling a couple of holes.

The picture shows a standard Mag-Light fitted using my mounting kit.

After investigating other air gun lamping options, I discovered they all had the following disadvantages:-

• They require a large battery pack
• They all have trailing wires
• On / off switch has to be glued to stock
• If the lamp is on the scope it's easy to "knock" the sight requiring calibration (not easy at night!)
• Can make the rifle top-heavy
• Very cumbersome to use and carry

I invented the Pro-File air gun rifle lamping system to help me shoot better at night. The systems that were available just didn't work for me so I thought, being an engineer, I could come up with a better system. My system has the following advantages over anything else I have seen or tried.

1. A fully adjustable beam (narrow / wide) with a 100m range
2. Over 2 hours battery life (can use rechargeable batteries)
3. Can be switched on and off whilst in position
4. Can be attached to almost any precharged air rifle
5. The unit has no trailing wires
6. Can be used without disturbing the scope
7. Inserts made of stainless steel so no danger of rust
8. Can be used in either hand
9. Fully adjustable mounts for use on different rifles
10. Easy to carry spare batteries which can be replaced in field
11. Does not interfere with the rifle's balance

Other lighting solutions provide far too much light - often scaring away the very prey you are trying to shoot! The Pro-File provides a narrow beam of light that follows the line of sight you are aiming it. Once you have fired, a quick twist on the torch will give you a wide beam that you can use to locate your prey.

If you are going to hunt at night and want the latest and easiest-to-use lighting system available, then the Pro-File is your only real choice.
