Glade

Glade air freshener was a standard product around our house until I first caught the scent of febreze. After the first use I noticed a difference and how much more I enjoyed the scent of febreze. Be sure to take the poll at the end of this Hub to vote for your choice of air freshener.

Glade odor
Glade air freshener has a much more medicinal aroma to it. It’s like spraying it means you know there’s a problem with the air quality. I don’t feel Glade covers over or dissipates odors – it just spells “trouble” and replaces the air.

I don’t feel that Glade lives up to its tag line “Eliminates Odors & Freshens Air” because of the scent that has a clinical feel to it.

Glade has a great marketing message to it:
Glade scents are blended with natural fragrance oils to create uniquely inviting fragrances for your home. Created by Nature . . . Captured by Glade.

I don't feel the tag "created by nature, captured by glade" lives up to its promise, though.

Main Ingredients
Glade has no ingredients listed on its canister.

Cost
Glade is often on sale and is available at the 99 cent store.

Glade spray usually costs less than febreze but doesn't meet its brand promise in my opinion.

febreze is more pleasant to me but it costs more.

Febreze

Febreze odor
Febreze Air Effects has a floral smell that I enjoy. The spray itself seems less powerful than Glade’s spray and seems like it floats where the Glade spray seems heavier and more likely to drip from the air. The febreze vanilla scent is among my favorites.

Febreze has a slightly different promise for homeowners than Glade:
Febreze Air Effects is like a breath of fresh air any time because it actually sweeps away those stale and stifling odors and leaves a fresh scent.

I do feel febreze lives up to its brand promise better than Glade.

Main Ingredients
The ingredients are quite simple: Odor eliminator, water, fragrance, non-flammable natural propellant and quality control ingredients.

Febreze is more difficult to find on sale and costs start at $ 2.50 and go higher.

My favorite way to freshen the air is using candles as opposed to either air freshener. Sticking with my floral preferences I prefer a lilac or lavender scent. Some pine candles will do on occasion but I prefer lighter, floral scents which is why I prefer febreze over Glade.

Which air freshener do you prefer?

  • Glade
  • Febreze
  • Neither, I prefer candles
