It is another great occasion for Cricket Lovers. Yes. The Champions League Twenty 20 Cricket Match 2009 statrted off from today(8.10.2009). Twelve top T20 teams from seven nations all set for action in cricket's first-ever global inter-club competition. This is going to be in India in three different venues, Bangalore, Hyderabad and Delhi. A total of 23 matches will be played. The total prize money on offer is Rs.28 cr. Champions will receive Rs.11 cr. which is spliit between the club and players.
Teams are split into four groups of three and play two matches. The top two teams will qualify for the Super Eight stage. The best four progress to the semi-final. The tournament ends in Hyderabad on Oct 23.
The inaugural Champions League Twenty20 cricket extravaganza started with a dazzling opening ceremony at the M.Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bangalore, Thursday. A host of international artists then showcased their art followed by a laser show. Shaolin monks from China performed moves of Tai Chi, Kung Fu and Chi Kung martial arts along with Kalaripayattu artists. British singer-model Jamelia and Reggae singer Shaggy enthralled the crowd with their performance. The opening ceremony ended with fireworks display that lit the Bangalore sky.
