Airtel introduced its mobile office package about a year ago.It was the first unlimited mobile GPRS and so always had a special place in web enthusiasts especially in the old age of failing dial ups.

The only competition mobile office has is perhaps the plenty of free GPRS tricks that are going rounds.

The most successful of those tricks was tghe proxifier trick.It involved using a program called proxifier to reroute data to another port other than the standard Html ports of 80 and 8080.Airtel has now blocked the trick.

THE only trick that is still working is the Ucweb trick which is based on the fact that the open port on ucweb server is not the standard ports and airtel has not so far blocked it.

I activated mobile office 2 daysago...rupees 374 for one month.I contacted the customer care and they politely told me that the speed will be 30=50 kiloBYTEs/sec

I again asked them if it corresponds to 200kbps and they said yes...so i waited for my new broadband.It was activated the next day.the first site i entered in my browser was orkut.com

and mark my words it took 15mts to load..The maximum speed i achieved was 10kB/s early in the morning..too bad for that amt.So if you are in kerala and is intending to take airtel gprs please keep awy..Try the evdo card from Bsnl instead.

How to configure Airtel GPRs

configuring airtel mobile office is easy..First go to tools-settings-connection-packet data- set the access point to airtelgprs.com

Now connect the phone to pc with a data cable..Airtel mobile office setting are preset in pc suite..or you can select one touch access-settings-manual settings-access point airtelgprs.com-Finish.

just click connect.

you are through.

The only problem is speed.
