Alabama Space Coast Offers Abundant Opportunity
The Healthcare position of Registered Nurse (RN) is the hottest job in all of Alabama for the next several years, offering over 2,000 new job openings every year. A variety of businesses employ RNs, from hospitals and medical centers to onsite corporate clinics and the mini-clinics seen popping up in grocery stores and drug stores in the 21st century. As the average age of the American population increases and the large number of Baby Boomers retire and age, requiring further health care in the next decades, the demand for RNs should continue to be strong and to increase.
A wide variety of other types of occupations round out the Top 20 Hot Jobs in Alabama. These include positions in the Tourism and Service industries, Information Technology (IT), Human Services, Food Service, Management, Truck Driving. The Clergy has become a Top Job supplier at Number 12 on the list. Opportunities abound in Alabama.
The Aerospace Industry is expanding exponentially, especially with vision of Space Tourism coming into reality on the Space Coast along states like Alabama and Florida (the original Space Coast State). Once predicted to close down entirely, Space Camp (see links) has instead expanding into about a dozen programs. Some of these vacation and training combined experiences will be a first step to individuals, families, educators, and business people that want to avail themselves of Space Tourism and fly into space and to the Moon and Mars in the future. The Aerospace Industry will need large numbers of employees in IT, Healthcare, Services and Tourism, to name but a few.
In the 1970s, Ponderosa Steakhouses purchased the first rights to open a restaurant on the old space station. However the time limit ran out and the old station was discarded. From nearly 40 years ago, business people predicted that business would be big in relation to the Aerospace Industry. I think they were correct. I also predict that the Aerospace Industry and Space Tourism will provide thousands of new jobs to replace jobs that have been lost to overseas outsourcing and obsolescence.
An exciting future awaits current and future workers among the stars and on the Space Coast.
