Alan Grayson, a Democrat Not Afraid to Strike Back
66
At last there's a Democrat who's not afraid to get into the ring with the most outrageous Republicans. Alan Grayson freshman Democrat Congressman from a normally Republican district in Florida has been rocking the boat in Washington. Samples:
"If you get sick, America, the Republicans' health care plan is this: "Die quickly!"
On Dick Cheney: "I have trouble listening to what he says sometimes because of the blood that drips from his teeth while he's talking."
On Linda Robertson, Federal Reserve official and former Enron lobbyist: A "K Street whore!"
The K Street whore remark on a talk radio show brought a rebuke from Steny Hoyer, Dem majority leader and an apology from Grayson.
Grayson's hard hitting style isn't what one might expect from a graduate of Harvard and Harvard Law School as well as someone who clerked for Bork, Scalia and Ginsburg.

11-1-09 NY Times "That's Outrageous"
- Alan Grayson "Outrageous"
In recent weeks, Mr. Grayson has catapulted himself to national renown for outlandish rhetoric and a pugilistic political style that makes him seem less staid lawmaker than a character on the lam from one of his Orlando districts theme parks.

I'm glad to see someone's got guts in Washington. I'll have to check the guy out. Thanks.
Another Johnny-one-note left wing bomb thrower...A two year flash in the pan and an insensitive pseudo macho man that is fearless when passing out sordid sobriquets to women...two and out with the lout...Larry
Maybe, but he's outnumbered 100:1 by right wing tea bagger whack jobs!
They don't sit in congress...maybe they should...Larry
That's just what we need in Congress more whack jobs like Congresswoman Bachman.
Rep. Anthony Weiner (D-NY) was more blunt: "Is this news to you that this guy's one fry short of a Happy Meal?"
Apparently news to the knee jerk Deeds
I am delighted to see a Representative with both the insight to identify the poorly developed plans of many in our congress and the guts to call our attention to them. Grayson does this with wisdom, courage, and humor. He seems to realize that it is better to be a one term congressman who does the right thing than to avoid the hard issues as most freshmen do, more concerned with re-election.
Me too!
I find it fascinating that the moment a "democrat" adopts the style and tactics that have been favored by many "republicans" for a long time, he/she is immediately violently attacked, using the very style and tactics he/she is being attacked for using!
The degree of hypocrisy practiced by political ideologues is breathtaking.
Whoo hoo...another jerk in the pack. Deeds you don't seem to have a problem with him, but you have a problem with Beck....hummm sounds like double standards to me.
Just fighting fire with a little fire.
Good for Greyson calling out the Republicans lack of health care plan, because in reality they do not have one. They are happy with the status quo, and this is obvious because they have never ever tried to get together to reform health care, and they always try to block it when the Democrats do. Another thing, why are your opponents always stalking your hubs with ideas that oppose their values? I never see anyone post on their extremely biased ones besides their compatriots, and who else would want to hang out there?
We need more Democrats like Grayson.
Ralph..For once I agree with you..you do need more wackos like Grayson..the sooner to sink the libs and their socialist agenda...Prediction: Both races for Gov in NJ and Virginia, and the congressional race in NY, will go Republican...A bitch slap to Obama...Larry
Ha! Our socialist agenda--
Comrades, none of us wishes to be or can be right against the party. In the last instance the party is always right, because it is the only historic instrument which the working class possesses, for the solution of its fundamental tasks.... One can be right only with the party and through the party because history has not created any other way for realization of one’s rightness.
Boy...there is sure a lot of " right " in that comment, Ralph...sure you aren't a closet conservative..?
Conservative doesn't have a precise meaning so far as I see. I tend to be a fiscal conservative and a social liberal. I do have something in common with libertarians. However, think more government regulations are needed than do most Libertarians.
Ralph,
I can just see you and Grayson strolling hand and hand as a true example of left wing civility.
Tom, ha! You're right, he's my kinda guy! Not afraid to say "what he really means."

Honestly, I think he's a bit over the top, although I admire his courage. Hey, Mr. Deeds, why haven't you come for breakfast. I am saving a seat for you.
