Alcohol Insomnia - Discover The Consequences Before It's Too Late!

If you have insomnia, you’ve probably tried countless different methods in order to eliminate it, from sleeping pills, to earplugs to herbal remedies, there are countless solutions to the problem. However there is one seemingly obvious solution which a lot of people try but don’t quite get the results they were expecting from it, that supposed insomnia solution is alcohol.

You see while alcohol may tire you out, relax you and make you readily able to fall into a deep sleep, the end result is not quite that cut an dry. Alcohol Insomnia will likely result, which is a scenario in which the alcohol in your body dehydrates it. So while you may have 2 or 3 hours of sleep initially, following that you will find yourself tossing and turning having vivid and unsettling dreams as a result.

Alcohol is not a solution for insomnia, the fact that there is an actual term for this condition called “alcohol insomnia” is evidence enough you should not be trying this. If you want to get rid of your alcohol insomnia, the solution is quite simple stop drinking alcohol.

Now you don’t need to stop completely, but at least stop drinking it right before bedtime if you want a good nights sleep. Moderate your alcohol consumption to prevent alcohol insomnia, but it really is better to stop the habit all out, especially if it is impeding your ability to function due to lack of sleep.


Now one other important thing to note about alcohol is never to take it while you’re taking sleeping pills at the same time. The reason for this is because both alcohol and sleeping pills act as a “depressant”. They both will slow your breathing and relax your body and if you take them both at the same time it may be too much for you to cope with.

If your breathing is slowed down too much, it will result in a lack of oxygenation of your blood cells and worst case scenario, you could enter into a coma. So as mentioned earlier, it’s best to just kick the habit to prevent alcohol insomnia as well as issues with alcohol and sleeping pills.

One solution you can use in place of alcohol to help you get a better nights sleep is warm tea or milk. For the tea, look for fennel or chamomile tea from an herbal supplement store, if you can’t find this though, simple milk will suffice. This will work to calm your central nervous system and make you more susceptible to falling asleep.

Hopefully this solution will stave you off of your alcohol insomnia and allow you to get a better nights sleep. One final note which may help is to add the use of ear plugs and a sleeping mask to shut off all external stimuli.
