Alessandra Ambrosio was born in a very small town in Brazil named Erechim. Her parents are the owners of a Gas Station in Erechim. She is of Polish and Italian decent She saw a picture of Super Model Karen Mulder when she was 8 years old and she said she knew right then that she wanted a career as a super model. But she had one problem and that was her ears so at age 11 she had surgery done on her ears and suffered from complications of the surgery for 2 years. She said that convinced her right then that she was never again having plastic surgery.

Alessandra Ambrosio had her first big modeling break when she was on the cover of the Brazilian Elle Magazine. She appeared for the first time for Victoria's Secret in 2000. Alessandra is one of the top paid models ever. It was revealed recently that she made over Eight Million Dollars US in 2006 and that is expected to go significantly in 2007.

One of Alessandra's favorite things to do is surf. She won several surfing contests in Brazil in her early teens before she had to get serious with her modeling career. She says she wishes she had the chance to surf more often. Her favorite food is chocolate. And she says she eats chocolate every day.

Alessandra Ambrosio currently lives in New York City in a apartment she shares with her sister who is a lawyer. She says that Brazil and its beaches is her favorite place on earth followed by the Florida Keys and Key West.

She currently has two cats and says they are her best friends on earth. Both came from Cat Rescue Shelters. She says she really cares about animals and wishes she had time to do more work for homeless animals.
