With the coming release of Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland there is bound to be a great revival of interest in 'all things Alice' including how to dress up like the little girl in the apron-dress amongst many other things.
Burton's Alice in Wonderland is going to scare the bee-jeez out of women, children, men and even your pets . Tim Burton's Alice is a perfect vehicle for him to work with because the story itself originally is odd and extremely imaginative and giving that it is what it already is, Burton will bring his own freakish ideas to the story and make it even more so.
The original Alice, written by the legendary Lewis Carroll, (aka Charles Lutwidge Dodgson) is a fabulous nonsense story, but as it was written for British Victorian readers of another century, it is helpul to know the background of the story to fully enjoy it.
It is replete with jokes that are interwoven in the story and which were meaningful to the Victorian audience, but which we now need to have explained to enjoy the full sense of the humor. Also, the tale contains some private jokes specially inserted for the author's friends. As the red queen says:
"...you may call it 'nonsense' if you like," she said, "but i've heard nonsense, compared with which that would be as sensible as a dictionary."
