All About Lindsay Lohan

Lindsay Lohan is one of the headline-grabbing actresses in Hollywood, along with Paris Hilton and Britney Spears. A few years ago, she might have considered this to be good company, but each of these women have had their run-ins with the law and addiction. Many in the entertainment industry believe that she is a very talented actress. She also has a singing career. Unfortunately, over the past 18 months, Ms. Lohan is better known for her numerous trips in and out of rehab for alcohol and drug abuse. LiLo has also had a potential bout with an eating disorder. Although she and her reps vehemently denied the allegations, Lindsay Lohan lost a drastic amount of weight in 2005-06 and appeared to be suffering from anorexia.

Born July 2, 1986, Lohan is currently only 21; still quite young, considering her notoriety. Her hair color shifts from platinum blonde to dark brown, and her body is definitely one of the hottest these days, particularly after putting on weight to a normal level in the past couple of years. She has quite a resume of movies, and recently a few CDs, that should ensure her continued success - particularly if she gets and stays sober. Lohan's net worth exceeds $7 million.

Lindsay was born in 1986 and began her formal acting career 10 years later. Although she starred in dozens of commercials as a very young girl, her breakout role is considered to be 12-year old twins (she played both parts) in a remake of Disney's "The Parent Trap" in 1998. A cute, freckle-faced strawberry blonde, Lindsay Lohan stole many peoples' hearts in the movie. Meeting her twin sister at summer camp, Lohan was required to play both girls, who cleverly work to get their parents back together after divorce.

Another big role for Lohan was "Mean Girls," in 2004. In this film, she played an innocent teenager who moved to a new school. To fit in, she eventually joins forces with the gang of girls who rule high school. An eye-opener for all about how teen girls can manipulate and control others in the name of fitting in.

In Freaky Friday, Lindsay co-starred with Jamie Lee Curtis in 2003. The film was highly popular and remains her highest-grossing film to date. This movie was another Disney re-make in which mother and daughter change minds and personalities, but not bodies. The film earned over $150 million worldwide.

Yet another Disney movie for Lohan was Herbie: Fully Loaded. The movie was released in 2005, just around the time that Lindsay started losing alarming amounts of weight. Her reputation as a sweet teenage actress was beginning to tarnish at this point. Nonetheless, Herbie was a popular movie about a girl race car driver and her unique relationship with an old-fashioned VW Beetle.

Director Robert Altman took a chance on Lohan again in, A Prairie Home Companion, released in 2006. The film, based on a book by Garrison Keillor, examined the behind-the-scenes lives of characters and personalities of a popular radio show. The movie was a moderate success, grossing over $25 million.

One of the next notable movies for Lindsay was not because of the film's success. Georgia Rulewas plagued by Lohan's absences and late arrivals to the set. Jane Fonda got downright upset and chewed out the young actress for calling in sick when she was hungover instead. It was released in 2007 and made only $6.7 million.

One of her next movies, I Know Who Killed Me, bombed even more. It brought in only $3 million and was a complete disaster, earning the Razzie award for Worst Actress in 2008.

Lindsay Lohan is known for her estrangement from her father. After a long separation and bitter battles, her parents finalized their divorce in 2007. Michael Lohan, her father, was incarcerated in the 1980s for securities fraud and then again recently for driving-related charges. Mom, Dina Lohen, is Lindsay's agent. She has three younger siblings, sister Ali, and brothers Michael and Dakota Lohen. Her naturally red hair is likely from her Irish and Italian blood.

Lohan sings about the pain of growing up with an absent father in one of her singles released on her second album, A Little More Personal (Raw), in 2005. Her sister, Ali, stars in the disturbing video as Lindsay.

In 2006, Lohan became a "frenemy" with Paris Hilton, after going for and sleeping with Hilton's ex-boyfriend, Stavros Niarchos III. She is also the ex-girlfriend of Wilmer Valderrama, and others.

In 2007, Hollywood seemed to be shying away from Lohan after several repeated trips to rehab and arrests for driving under the influence. No longer on the Hot Actors Under 25 list, she has some serious making up to do. Despite Lindsay's original breakout success, her recent movies, including "Georgia Rule," and "I Know Who Killed Me," flopped at the box office.

In addition to her career issues, Lohan gained a party-girl reputation, hanging out with Paris Hilton, Britney Spears, and Nicole Ritchie. Like those young women, she was arrested several times for DUI in 2006-07 and also had numerous stints in rehab. So far, she has checked herself in for treatment three times, and has also been attending AA meetings.

Most recently, on July 24, 2007, Lohan was arrested for possession of cocaine and transportation of a narcotic, in addition to DUI and driving with a suspended license. She was sentenced to one day in jail and ten days community service at the American Red Cross in Pomona, California, in August 2007.

The drinking and drugging followed closely on the heels of severe food restriction in 2005-06. Lindsay lost noticeable amounts of weight then, looking skeletal and unhealthy. Perhaps she replaced one addition with another.

It is said that her are Marilyn Monroe and Ann-Margaret. Hopefully, she will not follow in Norma Jane's footsteps. Nonetheless, Lohan recently posed nude as Monroe in February 2008, crashing Internet servers, after being photographed by the same photographer who took pictures of Marilyn's "Last Sitting."

In 2004, Lohan signed a recording contract with Casablanca/ Universal Records, boss Tommy Mottola. She has released two pop music albums: Speak (2004) and A Little More Personal (Raw) (2005). Both are moderately successful albums. The first one is compared to Hilary Duff and Ashlee Simpson's styles. It is famous for the singles "First" and "Over." The album was certified platinum. Lohan's second release was only certified gold. It had one hit, "Confessions of a Broken Heart (Daughter to Father)."

There is talk of a possible third album perhaps in 2008.

For now, many in Hollywood are waiting for Lindsay Lohan to grow up and get her act together before they will decide to take a risk on hiring her again for a major film role. Her multiple trips to rehab in 2007 gave many pause, not to mention her flakiness in showing up for work on the set of Georgia Rule. In fact, Michael Levine stated after her last arrest that Lohan would be unemployable for at least 18 months. Talent agencies and other agree, citing insurance costs and other factors that would have to come down before studios would be ready send another big part her way.

In the meantime, Lohan will continue to make headlines one way or another. Hopefully, she will stay clean and sober. But it seems like her proclivity tends more towards the risque, attention-grabbing history of her past.
