Cats, dogs, fish, oh my! But wait...hamsters, hermit crabs, and frogs too...no way?! Yes, sir! If it's been small enough for apartment living I've loved, feed, and cuddled it atleast once. Although my parents opted not to get a dog until I left for college, something about empty nest syndrome and having a lot of love to give. Mi-Shu, my parents, dog has now officially taken my place...no hard feelings though; he is a great little pup.

Until recently I've been the "mother" (I know, I know I hate when people call their pets their kids too) of two cats: Sir and Monte. Sir, who in fact is a female cat, was named so because when I adopted her I was told that she was a male cat, was recently adopted by a really nice guy looking for a companion. My boyfriend and I moved and sadly couldn't take two cats with us so we posted an add and found a great guy to adopt her (the add was for both/either cat, the guy decided to go with Sir). Though I was heartbroken, for obvious reasons, I'm happy in the thought that she's in a better place where she can get all the attention she wants. She's always been much more of a solo cat than a group cat. Monte, who is staying with us, is also enjoying the new solo life. He's a huge fan of eating, cuddling, and sleeping, all of which he's able to do to an excess in our new home.

Ok, now, to the point of the hub: Tips and Advice for Happy Pets:

1. Love! Cuddle time is crucial for a pet's happiness...and it seems to help the people too!
2. Food! Dry, wet, treats, people food. Whatever as long as it's healthy and there's always enough.
3. Toys! Animals like people love to play. Sometimes with each other, sometimes alone, and sometimes with socks (or items you don't necessarily want them to play with). Always have a variety of toys and lots of them. Keep it interesting, fun, and somewhat challenging. Boredom leads to mischief.
