All about team building
Most organizations have clustered their members into different teams either because they belong to the same division or are working on certain projects. There are also times that organizations need to merge two or more teams to collaborate on certain tasks. Even the organization itself can be considered as a team moving as a single unit. For organizations who are pushing for high performance, they should ensure that each team members are comfortable working with each other and are doing their specific contributions to the teams output.
But not all the time do members of a team get a long with each other or are producing output that is expected of them. Since teams are seen as a single unit, rewarded or punished with their output as a team and not individually with member contributions, this would be unfair to those members who are exerting great efforts on their tasks when other members will just pull down their team's performance. This is why team building is important. With team building not only members are being taught to move as one, it also helps them in attaining good performance in their tasks.
There are several approaches with regards to team building. Most companies send their employees to team building seminars and workshop in order to build that team spirit which is much needed to attain organizational goals. But not all approaches yield the same results with regards to team building and improvement. Other approaches may provide satisfactory outputs but still leaves a big room for improvement, others may improve team productivity in the short run but the effects may fade away as time goes by and new challenges arise. But a breakthrough in management science has come up with a revolutionary approach to team building and focuses on achieving team improvement through developing a culture of accountability with in the team. With members being accountable to each other and to the team as a whole, they become more aware of the responsibilities that have and are more eager to contribute to the team's output. With proper training team accountability contributes greatly in achieving organizational output.
