All Work and No Play - When You Know You Need A Vacation
57
When is a vacation needed?
Lately I've been putting in double time. I've been working at YS Auxiliary Service, working on the blog Yin Yang Data Report, and recently - Producing the live broadcast Yin Yang TV.
A few days ago, I decided to take a break and do some laudry. I know, WOW what a break. I notice I didn't see my favorite pair of pants. I hunted for those pants for at least 20 minutes. I looked in the washer machine, the dryer, even in the car -- just in case I have forgotten one of my overnight bags. No pants!
Finally, I gave up and set down. I had just used the last bit of energy I had searching for my favorite pants to no result. After about 5 minutes, I looked down and guess what? I was wearing the pants. When an event like this happens, you know you need a vacation.
My Dream Vacation
My dream vacaion includes:
- No Cellphone
- No Kids
- No Laptop
- No E-mail (checking)
However, 37% of small business owners report they worry about missing potential business opportunities while away. And 51% of small companies worry about their top clients.
Nevertheless, we (small business owners) should enjoy our vacations too.
What will happen if you don't take a break!
- Sleep deprivation causes a significant decline in work output and alertness.
- Decreased alertness affects your memory.
- Bad effects on your quality of life -- can't stay awake through a movie.
