Celebrities, fans, LAPD, and the whole world prepares for Michael Jackson’s memorial service on Tuesday July, 7 at the Los Angeles Staple Center.
Celebrities from all genres are coming out to support the “King of Pop” and his grieving family.
Some celebs on the “star studded” guest list includes Ursher, Beyonce Knowles, Mariah Carey, Berry Gordy, Kobe Bryant, Smokey Robinson, Stevie Wonder, Jennifer Hudson, Lionel Richie, Brooke Shields, Bernice A. King, and the Reverend A. Sharpton.
No word yet on whether Dr. Arnold Klien, Jackson’s dermatologist, or his long time pal, Elizebeth Taylor, will be present at the memorial service.
A confirmed “no show” is Debbie Rowe, Jackson’s ex-wife and mother of his two elder children.
Rowe had said that she will be attending earlier today until her lawyers advised her that it would be best if she did not attend. Rowe’s lawyers explained further by saying that Rowe’s presence would be a distraction. "The onslaught of media attention has made it clear her attendance would be an unnecessary distraction to an event that should focus exclusively on Michael's legacy," says Browne, Woods & George, the law firm representing her. Jackson has generations of fans. Millions of them will be participating in his memorial service in dissimilar ways.
The ticket winners, who were randomly selected through a text message ticket lottery, redeemed their tickets at the Dodger’s Stadium as early as six this morning.
Eighty- eight movie theaters are getting ready for 17,000 people who will be watching Jackson’s memorial service live starting at 10 a.m. tomorrow. The equipment was provided by a New Jersey based network. They will set up satellite dishes and digital projection systems.
It has been said that Jackson’s service is causing an “influx” in flight and hotel bookings.
This elaborate memorial service will need some resilient police force.
The LAPD is trying to come up with an effective strategy to reduce any chaos because the service is expected to draw out hundreds of thousands of fans inside and outside the Staple Center.
The cost of security cost an average of $2.5 million. This includes security for Jackson’s private memorial service his family will be holding at Forest Lawn Memorial Cemetery and Encino compound, Jackson’s rented home where he lived before his death.
The LAPD will be on “tactical alert”, meaning that all the officers will be on duty at the memorial service and there might be delayed responses to minor police calls.
Viewers at home shouldn’t have a problem with tuning in to the memorial service because several stations will be airing minute by minute coverage.
CNN has announced that they will begin their coverage at 6 a.m. with Larry King doing live interviews in Los Angeles later on.
ABC, CBS, and NBC will air it live. MSNBC and FOX News will have reporters broadcasting live.
MTV and VH1 will also be doing their part to cover the service.
