Herbalism Is In
Herbalism is a traditional medicinal practice based on the use of plants or plant extracts. We can probably say that Herbalism is the foundation of our modern-day pharmaceutical industry. But recently, more and more countries are returning to this form of traditional practice since a growing number of consumers are recognizing the benefits of "natural remedies" over the usual "manufactured pills". Aside from its organic properties, some herbal plants can be grown in your own garden. Below is a partial list (part 1) of herbal plants that you may want to consider.
- Bitter melon leaves may help in lowering your blood sugar. The fruit and the leaves have medicinal properties that can help aid people suffering from diabetes.
- Guava leaves are great remedies for stomach pains, diarrhea, and other stomach problems. You can eat the leaves raw or you can boil it with water and drink the extract like a tea.
- Garlic helps lower blood cholesterol and high blood pressure.
- Lemon eliminates skin itching. Putting lemon extract in your scalp may help remove dandruff and may promote hair growth. Lemon extract is also an effective cough remedy.
- Hawaiian Hibiscus is a flower that can help cure cough and colds. It is also used for smoothing internal and external wounds.
- Oregano is known to help calm nervous and muscle spasm. It is also an effective expectorant which help expels phlegm from the respiratory tract. If used as a tea, it is known to regulate menstrual cycle.
- Leaves of Lady's Finger or Okra beans is used to treat bronchitis and pneumonia.
- Ginger broth is an effective remedy for cough and sore throat.
