Alternative Electricity Sources
Most electricity is generated from burning fossil fuels but there are alternative electricity sources available. The most popular electricity source is from burning coal, 50% or electricity production, the nuclear power, 20% production, natural gas, 18% production, hydroelectric, 6.5% production, petroleum, 3% productions and renewable energy source, 2.3% production. So of all of the energy produced only 85% comes from water, biomass, solar energy, geothermal power and wind power..
The key to electricity production is to keep the movement of a magnet around a conductor. This can be achieved by having two conductors in salt water, shining a light on the conductors or by touching the conductors together. The energy produced to keep the electricity moving comes from absorbing energy or energy collected for burning fuels. This energy is needed to keep the copper wire found between two magnets spinning as this is the most common form of electricity generation and delivery..
Wind power currently only supplies a small percentage of electricity produced but it is thought that much more could be produced from wind power, thereby reducing the need to burn fossil fuels. Wind power is the best clean energy solution for electricity as is the most efficient of all possible electricity production. It is thought that the entire United States could be supplied by wind power..
Solar power is transforming the sun's energy or into electricity. This is a well-known electricity source that has been made many advances in recent years. Home solar units and commercial solar energy are becoming much more popular with any excess collected energy being fed back into the electricity grid..
Most solar users find that the electricity is giving them credits for their electricity. The only large costs involved is acquiring the equipment to collect and convert the solar energy into electricity and getting this hooked yup to the electrical grid..
Hydropower utilizes water pressure as it comes over a dam. Gravity and falling water turn turbines, which in turn generate electricity. The most famous example of hydroelectric power is at Niagara Falls and the famous blackout. You can use small micro-hydro generators if you have a small stream on or near your property.
Biodiesel can be used as a substitution for petroleum and biodiesel is becoming more popular for trucks and tankers. Biodiesel is produced from animal fats and vegetable oils and was first used in 1895. Almost all vehicles can be converted to running on biodiesel, though your car may smell like French fries if you use straight vegetable oil!

Wind Power Electricity
Wind power electricity is generated on wind farms scattered across the pastoral lands of the United States. In a time when increasing dependence on foreign oil is wreaking havoc on politics as usual, wind power is gaining more attention for its promise of energy independence.
The world's largest wind power farm is located in the United States, in the State of Texas. The Horse Hollow Wind Energy Center is the largest in the world with over 420 wind turbines. Experts maintain that the Horse Hollow Wind Energy Center can produce enough electricity to power over 200,000 homes annually. Once the energy is produced, federal, state and local governments are more than happy to buy to produced energy. Wind power electricity is not the only solution to the energy problem. Because wind is an intermittent power source it needs to be combined with other power sources like solar and even gas or coal.
Wind power electricity is already a major component of energy plans worldwide. Australia currently has 42 wind farms with the largest, Lake Bonney Wind Farm producing over 230 MW of energy. Other countries with wind farms under construction include India, the Phillipeans, the EU, Brazil, and Morocco.
The major difference with wind power and gas or coal based power is in the funding and operation of the initiatives. Most wind farms are privately owned by entrepreneurs and venture capitalists. While the wind farm owners receive tax breaks for producing clean energy, the money generally has to come from a private source for start up and maintenance costs.
The impact that wind power on the world's energy needs shouldn't be minimized though. As a variable in the response to energy needs it plays a major part and can greatly alleviate dependence on fossil fuels, gradually minimizing their usage as new technologies are uncovered.
Many people worldwide are not waiting for government to make the change to alternative energy and are taking the matter into their own hands. With the use of small wind turbines many homes, farms, schools and business organizations are slashing their power bills and receiving tax and rebate credits for their contribution to forwarding renewable energy.
By embracing wind energy and other alternative energy sources on a micro scale, a powerful message is being sent to the government and utility companies. The people will not settle for high prices and destruction of the earth's natural resources. By participating the public is ensuring that the move to alternative energy will be done in an environmentally and fiscally responsible way and that is a recipe for energy success.

Alternative Electricity Generation
Alternative electricity generation is the wave of the future and will be very important for providing electricity years to come. Specifically the focus has moved from burning fossil fuels to using renewable energy sources. Burning gas, coal, and petroleum currently produces the vast majority of all electricity generation. Some renewable energy sources include hydropower, solar energy, biomass and wind power. There is a lot of research being applied to renewable energy sources.
There are three main reasons to start using alternative electricity generation methods. The first being that fossils fuels will one day run out and as supplies dwindle fossil fuel driven electricity will become very expensive. The second reason is that renewable energy is not harmful to the environment. You are not diminishing a natural resource but using something that uses gravity, the sun or wind to produce electricity. The third reason is cost; there will come a time when renewable energy will have almost no associated costs besides the purchasing of equipment.
The use of slow moving ocean currents has successfully generated electricity. This type of electricity generation cannot supply the planets needs but it can supply over 15 billion people by accessing just 0.1% of the ocean's currents. The vibrations that occur in the water are transformed into energy, which can then produce electricity. These vibrations can be due to gravity, fish swimming or wind at the surface of the ocean.
Research into solar cells is going much further than before. Solar energy is a great source of alternative electricity generation. Groups at MIT have designed a solar cell that is 50% more efficient then any that are currently available on the market. Most solar cells are expensive due to the usage of silicon but the new cell only uses 1% of refined silicon.
Burning garbage is another form of alternative electricity generation that has been around for over 100 years but not widely used. This type of electricity generation would not only produce energy but also get rid of much of the world's garbage that is currently polluting the planet. This is a great method that should be investigated further as the actually transformation of garbage to electricity needs to become more effective to make it a more feasible option of electricity production.
Burning garbage may seem to be a cheap way for alternative electricity generation, however, the feasability of this option remains to be seen. The danger of creating noxious fumes or further contributing carbon emissions currently outweigh any benefit to the reduction of municipal landfills.
Wind power and solar energy are the most effective alternative electricity generation methods but some cutting edge technology focuses on harnessing the energy from the change of pH between the soil and trees, cyanobacteria, and more. There are many areas of renewable energy yet to be discovered and it is with hope that world embraces renewable energy production over the consumption of fossil fuels.
