What Can Be Done?

If your dog has been diagnosed with cancer or you think he may have cancer, this can be a very scary time. There are many different kinds and forms of canine cancer with mast cell tumors being among the most common tumors in American dogs. Fortunately most forms of this cancer are very treatable.

Symptoms of the more serious metastasized mast cell cancer may include: loss of appetite, vomiting; sometimes bloody, diarrhea, abdominal pain, dark or black feces, itchiness, lethargy, anorexia, irregular heart rhythm and blood pressure, coughing, labored breathing, bleeding disorders, delayed wound healing, or enlarged lymph nodes.

Remember, your dog is completely dependent on your choices for their future. After you recover from the initial shock and sadness of the diagnosis, it is essential to confront the challenge. Cancer in your dog can be relentless and can spread quickly wherever the blood vessels go, causing tumors almost anywhere in the body.

One of the most common treatment options is chemotherapy. This can be harsh on your dog, but if your dog handles it well their health and quality of life can turn out to be normal again. Another drug, Prednisone (a corticosteroid), may be prescribed to reduce pain and swellings, but it addresses the symptoms only and does not get to the root of the problem.

You have to understand that these conventional treatment options are only a part of the overall treatment plan and that these treatments alone DO NOT CURE CANCER!

Chemotherapy and surgery, help ease the pain and suffering, but generally, do not deal with your dog's cause of cancer. Ultimately, only your dog's own immune system can overcome the cancer.

You need to do more than just conventional veterinary treatments alone because many dog owners are reporting that they aren't getting the results they had hoped for from surgery and chemo. Trying natural remedies together with your vet's conventional treatment you could double your dog's chances for survival.
