The price of gasoline sky rocketing at the pumps makes one wonder just when the price of oil will come to head so that the consumer can finally be able to afford gas as a fuel. The problem for many is the fear that the price of fuel will go so high that they can no longer afford to use their vehicle for anything than going to work and possible a shopping trip once a month. Many people claim that they have started shopping at stores along their route to work in order to save on gasoline. This increase of the price of oil has caused many consumers to change their way of travel. This being said it is no wonder that alternative fuel will quickly become the answer to the future of transportation. The vehicles made today are not equipped to accept alternative fuels therefore; new hybrids will soon be available to accommodate the new fuels. The future will hold new fuels and new vehicles.

Biodiesel is an alternative fuel formulated exclusively for diesel engines. The fuel made from vegetable oil or animal fats. You might say using a bio fuel is nature at its best. These types of fuels can be grown and produced from plants. A fuel that produced every year is a good thing. This is also an exciting thing for the farmers of America because now they can plant more crops increasing their income. Bio products created from plant or crop based resources. Petroleum made from corn as an example of a bio product. This is better for the economy as well as the eco system. Research is vital in this field not only for fuel but also as a petroleum replacement in order to keep production of other products.
Electricity
Electricity used in a vehicle started before the gasoline run auto. When Henry Ford invented the gas powered car that was so simple to start and eventually added a heating system then the electrical car took a back seat. The electrical car cranked from the outside and the distance was not nearly as far as a gas run Ford soon left the market. Over the years, the auto manufacturers did not see the need for the plug-in electrical car so the vehicle stayed on the wayside. Now that the price of gas has soared above reality for the consumers, budget researchers started looking at the electric option for a vehicle. One of the things that they started working on was the design of the vehicle. The researchers realized that the unusual design would not work in the commonplace market. The use of battery power was primarily on the agenda. After experimenting with different types of fuels and the affect of the batteries the researchers soon discovered that the use of the plug-ins that the extra power they produce could run electrical power for more than five hours a day from the grid. Electricity is a good thing it is quiet, clean, and saves on the eco system. A few other alternatives might be possible to use as fuels. The researchers are experimenting with other forms of fuels such as: • Ethanol a mixture of ethyl alcohol as an alternative fuel made from corn, grains or agricultural waste and used primarily as a gasoline supplement. • Hydrogen is an element gas that is extracted from other compounds. Hydrogen is not a manufactured substance like other fuels. Hydrogen is highly flammable and very dangerous. • Methanol is an alternative fuel, which made from woody plant fiber, coal or natural gas and can only be used as a supplement to gasoline but not for any other creation. The fumes that Methanol put out are toxic and dangerous. These problems would have controlled eventually if used. • Natural gas can be used as a compressed natural gas or as a liquefied natural gas. • Propane that is already used as fuel for a barbeque and some home appliances is probably one of the more familiar fuels. Propane is a by-product of natural gas and crude oil refining which does not help with the economy or the ability to run a smooth vehicle. That is not to say that eventually the researchers will not be able to process Propane for the vehicle. Eventually the consumer will be able to select more than one type of fuel but for now the use of gasoline and electricity seem to be the most acceptable forms. The problem that most researchers find that if too many resources are on the market it might conflict with the manufacturing of vehicles. After all, when your vehicle is made to accept one type of fuel it would be rather difficult to use a different type without having your car remodeled. The run on providing fueling stations could turn into a hazard not only for the consumers but also for the investors.
