I'm I the Light of the World?

It is the words of Jesus Himself that declares it! However, I do not feel like much of a light! Why do I stumble so much? Why do I have trouble finding my own way in this existence of darkness? Why do I set out to do well only to awkwardly trip and falter like a child running fearfully lost trying to find his way home through a winding trail after dusk. The recognizable sounds of the day become spooky when the radiance of the day has passed! Yes, indeed, I can boast no great light!

What does Jesus mean when he says?

Matthew 5:14 Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hid.

The fact is I have no light. If light is a fire, then I am a dead cinder! If light is the sun then I am an icy asteroid in the Kipper belt! If light is radiant energy flowing at 186K miles per second, then I am wandering in reverse without oomph! Surely, Jesus is making a mistake by calling me a light!

I know there exists great lights in the Gospel of heaven. The Bible speaks of Abraham and Moses, of Paul and Peter, of John the beloved and John the Baptist. Also, even the “lesser” lights, those saintly folks who have only a few words given in the Bible revealing their faithful overcoming, are far more obvious than I to receive this calling!

However, I am a born-again Christian, I know that my Lord says only what he means and means exactly what he says! I am a light.

I am a light! How is this possible?

John 1:9 That was the true Light, which lighteth every man that cometh into the world.

Eureka! This is it! I am not THE LIGHT in the meaning of being that true Light. That is Jesus! I am not called to be that true Light, only to carry that true Light with me in this darkened world. Being born-again means I carry the image of Christ in my body, mind and spirit. He lights up every part of the world I touch.

People are looking everywhere for instructions on how to live.There are millions of "How To.." books sold every year.Most of them are a case of the blind leading the blind. However, God's word has the direction you need for your life. You don't need to call 1-900-PSYCHIC! SOMETIMES WE DON’T WANT TO KNOW WHAT IT HAS TO SAY

Hebrews 4:12 -12 For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any two edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.
