So I wrote this hub about race and all of a sudden people started reading it and leaving comments, typical things like "good hub" you know the routine. This morning I wake up and look at Hubpages because I'm slightly addicted to it and I notice comments in direct conflict with the usual things left. So I answer them, because I am in no mood to be preached to about the "Racist Republican Party" my comments were not exactly nice.

This started a long ongoing debate with a Hubber who decided that I was racist because I said that Blacks commit a disproportionate amount of crime in relation to their population, the person I was debating said that it was because there were more poor Blacks than Whites. I knew this couldn't be the case because there are a lot more Whites in this Country than there are Blacks!

I attempted to prove my point with numbers, Blacks make up 13.5% of the US population using numbers supplied by Hubber X that say poor Blacks make up 24.5 of their population I did the math, it came out to 10.02 Million, I did the same with Hispanics using 21.5% as the number of poor and it came to 9.52 Million. Whites I used 5.412 and it came out to be 16.24 Million!

To be honest I used the wrong population figures at first but the numbers were still showing a lot more poor Whites. The argument was over the use of a word, I originally said " It is a statistical impossibility for Blacks and Hispanics to have more poor than Whites." As you can see the numbers prove me right...unless you need to prove a point so bad that one word means more than the sum of what was said!

Hubber X felt the use of the word "AND" in the sentence proved them right, Hubber X countered with " You may notice the "and" on this point, I win!" I conceded the point to move on. But facts are facts, there are more poor whites in the US than any other race yet the rate of incarceration of Blacks and Hispanics is much higher, so to use poverty as an "explanation" to quote Hubber X is simply wrong!

These stats don't affect me in any way, I am not a criminal my kids are not criminals, so why do I care? I care because the left in this country wants to create victims out of these people, they are not victims of systemic racism they are actually victims of the Democrat party. After 45 years of Democrat promises how far has the Black family advanced?

Do your own research, and learn something so three letter word don't make or break you!

Hello, A Texan. I hear this kind of nonsense all the time, that being poor is an excuse to commit crimes. Being poor should be an incentive to work your butt of so you can support yourself and your family. But after 45-years of Democrat programs, there is no incentive. Free food, free housing, more money for every child they have, why work? African American's have traded in one plantation for another. Where they were once owned by Democrat-voting plantation holders, they've now allowed themselves to be owned by the entire Democratic Party. They've fallen for the old, "Vote for me and I'll give you this" line for the past 45-years, and it hasn't gotten them anywhere.

That seems to be true, its funny that the stats show such terrible news but yet they dont seem to blame the right people. Maybe Hubber X is more familiar with the intercity plight than I am, but I think making them victims of everything is just a way to keep them down!

Those kinds of "arguments" happen all the time Tex. They make no points, or use blatant lies, and then they shout "I win!" It's mental illness. However, there is a group of African-American students, I think their group has a name but I don't know what it is, and they outline how ALL of the freedoms that blacks have won over the years are the result of the Republicans. They get harassed and practically laughed off campuses, but they don't give up. They are hard-working intelligent students (and I think adults too, as in out of college) and the left just hates them. They hate them because everything this group stands for flies directly in the face of the idea that it's the right who is racist. And a lot of blacks hate them too, because then they can't be "victims" and live on the dole.

I agree with you. It is the left who keeps people down.

(By the way, I think it's very important to talk about leftist tactics, as you do here. It's too easy to get caught up in the issues. You can NEVER argue issues with a liberal because they won't play fair.)

Hey, Tex.

Some people believe what they want to believe, and do no care about facts.

I just hope for a way to help everyone out of this situation, but it is getting harder and harder. I want everyone to be out the poor catagory, but it is not going to happen.

Take care,

Keep on hubbing!

Apologists are congenitally stupid and willfully ignorant. The psychology of apologists is warped. Because of that, they are willing dupes of the power-seekers using "political correctness" as a tool to power. You can't argue with them. You may, as I occasionally do, get some small satisfaction in insulting and pissing them off, but that's about it.

I do piss them off but it is unintentional...Oh who am I trying to kid, I love it!

Ha! It's always intentional - and they deserve it! They scream and shout that they are all for freedom but ALL of their actions and votes say the opposite. Any chink in the armor . . .

Texan, you have just as much right to express your opinion. I believe that being poor and black is one of the most disgusting excuses used for committing a crime. That is no reason why anyone should say such a thing? That is not an excuse for committing a crime! Texan I am on your side here, gee please break it down and explain, please!!!

A Texan profile image

A Texan  says:

What would you like me to break down and explain? I don't believe there is any reason to commit crime whether poor or rich, my belief is liberal apologists always try to justify why a person of color commits crime, I can't get into their heads at all its waaaay to cluttered with white guilt!

Wow! I like that answer, I have been reading a lot of what your write. You really express yourself, good going! This is America! What I meant by break it down, is to some people who doesn't get it. I suppose that is like trying to stick a needle through a ton of bricks.

I have the same attitude about my opinions. I have so much to say until, it just doesn't matter what anyone think of it, or me. they are not obligated to like me or what I say. I am a writer anyway, so be it.

I write about what I see or have experienced, I try to do things in a light hearted way but am not always sucessful. By the way where did you wind up after Katrina

I ended up in The Baton Rouge River Center that was housed with over 2,000 people. We were packed like sardines. I was forced out of New Orleans, but had remained there 2 days after Katrina, but not by choice. We were packed like sardines in that River Center. I now reside in the Canadaville community in a small town in Louisiana. It was designed for hurricane Katrina and Rita evacuees. I wrote a book about this which I have just ended. I am very appreciative for what some people has done for me. You wouldn't believe how some people are so unappreciative after been helped and saved from Katrina devastation. That really sickens me. I have so much to say in this story. Starting from New Orleans, to Baton Rouge, to now Simmesport. Now, I am penning a short story about how I got that initial spark to put pen to paper.

I'm glad you made it out alive, a lot of Katrina evacuees came to the Austin area and stayed. I know what you mean about not being thankful. I was recently at a birthday party for a little girl who's family came here after Katrina and somehow among the adults present the talk turned to politics, I said something about Bush and that lit a fire, F Bush this F Bush that, they actually blamed him for a hurricane. They told me how much they hated Texas and how it wasn't like New Orleans, I just said Go home then and left!

I don't blame you, right now its the same thing. Even being here after 4 years later, some are crying the same old tune. Give me this, I don't want to pay that, its disgusting. I have done a lot since I've been here. I am a honorary member of the sheriff's department, I support them totally, and I donate to the fraternity order of police to keep them all working, because we need them. I learned that more when I found myself needing help, while I stood on New Orleans street corner screaming for help. These idiots here is still complaining and holding their hand out for something and never want to give anything back. All they asking for is 8 hours of community service per week to keep up this beautiful property.

The Daddy state robs people of the human dignity inherent in making something out of yourself. Lack of feeling this dignity leads some to crime. Victim politics has attributed greatly as well. After all, if you have been wronged why not strike back? As far as black crime goes, when 70% of your children don't know who their father is, you are going to have problems. It is going to produce a shabby culture and a rotten society.

Actually, I am in agreement that programs which make it easier for fathers to abandon their families are not good for any American.

I am strong believer in solid families.

Anyone who goes on welfare needs to be given a hand up and needs to make their job skills marketable. Anything less than that is criminal for people who need to learn to be a productive part of society, no matter the race, ethnicity or whatever other standards we use.

I don't believe that it is the program that makes it easier for the father to leave, I believe it is generation after generation of them leaving that created the program! It would be nice to be able to blame it on something else it just wouldn't be honest. Thanks for reading Jeff.

That's an interesting point, A Texan, and I wonder if any one has done a study of it? Do you know of any you could share? But I do think that the welfare system, which I have read mainly supports young Caucasian women, does help foster the idea that you get more money if there is no father in the house, and if there are more children.

And worse if also brings up a generation who expect welfare to take care of them for all their lives. That is a cycle that needs to be broken and replaced with a work ethic. I have seen too many people, not necessarily on welfare, who also live like the greasshopper in that old tale of the ant and the grasshopper, expecting the world to owe them a living. It just can't work that way forever because eventually the money runs out. How many people do we all know who expect to put in a few months and then just suddenly get promoted to the top position? I know I've met my share!

I am not aware of any studies supporting my claim and of course it would be more young white women on welfare because there are more young white women! I am not creating a race issue with fathers leaving I think that bit of scumbagism is in every race!

The study below states "Before The war on poverty the amount of single parent homes, among those in povert was 30% by the late 1970's this had risen to 60%.

I believe this is directly attibutable to the welfare rules which discouraged a man in the house or payment would be denied.

Personally I am a neutral party as you can see and just enjoy gaining knowledge and getting along with others. You remind me of a renegade and do just keep on writing! :)
