Amanda Peet is a beautiful blue-eyed TV and movie actress, who became well known in America and around the world for her TV guest appearances on 'Law & Order' and 'Seinfeld' (as Linette) and a starring role in the romantic sitcom 'Jack & Jill' between 1999 and 2001.

She has subsequently confirmed her high-achieving position with more successful film and TV work and she was named one of People magazine's 50 Most Beautiful Women in the World.

Amanda was born in January, 1972, in New York City. She has one elder sister. Her parents, father a lawyer, and mother a social worker, were divorced when Amanda was 18. She was educated at a Quaker school with a 4 year break when she was 7 and her family moved to London. She studied history at Columbia University and she received great encouragement there from the drama teacher to audition for acting school.

This she successfully did and after graduating from columbia she studied for 4 years under Uta Hagen, the drama teacher, all the while keeping herself by working as a waitress. Finally she was recognised as the fine actress she is and she was cast in an episode of NYPD Blue. She was on the way.

Her movie debut came in 1995 with a small role in 'Animal's Room' and then 'She's the One',memorably playing Jennifer Aniston's sister, and 'One Fine Day', with Michelle Pfeiffer. She co-starred in 'Origin of the Species' in 1998, and gave a sympathetic interpretation of an actress and fitness instructor who has been diagnosed with HIV in 'Touch Me' in the same year.

Amanda continued to establish and improve her reputation for fine acting performances. She was now being selected for high profile movies with big stars. In 2000 she appeared in 'Isn't She Great?' starring Bette Midler and she also starred opposite Bruce Willis and Matthew Perry in the comedy 'The Whole Nine Yards' in the same year.
