Today across the country you here more and more about the acai berry and it's many healh benefits.

So what is the Acai Berry (which is commonly pronounced a-sigh-ee)? This berry is round and rather small and the color is kind of black-looking purple. It does look very much like a grape or a blueberry, but is yet smaller and darker. This berry has a small amount of pulp with a large seed in the middle.

What makes it so great?

The acai berry grows abundantly in the Amazon rainforest and found in some of the large palm trees. It is largely becoming known for it's nutrientional properties such as having a potent source of antioxidants, Omega fatty acids (the good kind) and other vitimans and minerals. It is widely being named and called a super-food.

Health benefits of the acai berry:

The acai berries helps to promote a healthier cardio vascular system and digestive tract due to the acai berry's synergy of monounsaturated fats (the healthy fats), dietary fiber, and phytosterols.

Acai berries are also an excellent source of dietary fiber which helps to promotes a healthy digestive system. Soluble fibers may help to lower blood cholesterol as suggested by many research studies.

Acai berries are rich in anthocyanins, an essential anti-oxidant that helps combat premature aging. In fact, Acai has 10 to 30 times more anthocyanins (purple colored anti-oxidants) than a glass of red wine.
