Homer called it "liquid gold." Throughout Ancient Greece athletes ritually rubbed it all over their bodies. Olive Oil. For thousands of year Mediterranean women have relied on it as a staple for their everyday beauty routines. Today entire skin care lines are based on Olive Oil! Here are 10 1/2 Amazing Things you can do with Olive Oil to enhance your own beauty and health rituals!

1. Cuticle and Nails: If your cuticles are ragged and your nails brittle soak each hand in a small cup of olive oil for 30 minutes. Pat dry and rub in any residual olive oil remaining on your skin.

2. Hair Treatment: This will help heal split ends and dandruff, and make your hair super shiny! Massage a few tablespoons of Olive Oil into dampened hair and scalp. Cover hair with a plastic bathing cap and relax for 30 minutes. Rinse hair clean.

3. Night Cream: Make your own night cream! Combine 1/2 cup of olive oil, 1/4 cup vinegar, and 1/4 cup of purified water. Spread sparingly on skin every night and wake up with glowing skin. The olive oil softens, the vinegar kills bacteria and loosens dead skin cells.

**Not to be used on oily skin

4. Feet: Soften rough dry feet. Use a pumice stone to slough off dead dry skin on the bottom of your feet. Follow by rubbing olive oil into your feet. Cover with clean white socks. Olive oil softens better than baby oil! Try this at night so you can sleep with oil and socks on your feet.

5. Bath: For a soothing moisturizing bath add several tablespoons of olive oil to a hot bath. Add a few drops of your favorite essential oil. Soak to soothe away aches and pains while nourishing skin!

6. Frizzy Hair: Put a small drop of Olive Oil onto your palm and rub into dry hair to smooth away frizzy's!

7. Eye Makeup Remover: Place a dab of Olive oil on a cotton ball and swab across closed eyelids. Safely and gently removes eye makeup!

8. Hair Conditioner: Microwave 1/2 cup of olive oil with a bit of rosemary (which stimulates the scalp). Comb into freshly brushed hair, wrap hair in a warm towel and let sit for 15 minutes. Then wash as usual.

9. Cuticle Treatment: Warm a small amount of Olive Oil in the microwave (careful not to get it too hot). Rub the oil on cuticles, let sit for a few minutes till skin softens, then push back with an orange wood stick.

10. Face pack for dry skin: Make this cheap and simple face mask for dry skin during all seasons. Mix a few drops of olive oil with a teaspoon of honey and 2 teaspoons of milk. Blend well and apply to your face and neck. Let sit for 14-20 minutes before rinsing off with cool water.

10 1/2. Olive Oil Remedy for Crow's Feet: Take 1 teaspoon of Olive Oil, prick a Vitamin E capsule and squeeze out a few drops to mix with the olive oil. Apply to crows feet and let sit for 10 minutes. Wipe off gently with a cotton ball soaked in warm water. Repeat nightly.

Great hub! Oilve oil is also a great massage oil (add a few drops of aromatherapeutic oil). But like Dave Saunders, I too was hoping for some cooking related tips. Perhaps an idea for your next hub?

Wonderful article! Olive oil beautifies from the inside out, too. I just made a batch of garlic basil butter to use up some of the fresh basil we grow in our AeroGarden--the first ingredient was olive oil and the second was Pecorino Romano.

I have oatmeal with olive oil almost eveyday and I don't need to use it for your individual remedies, apparently it does it from the inside. :-)
