Born October 27th, 1976 in Faizabad, India, Pooja was first noticed as the girl in the 'Head and Shoulders' commercial (Indian version) but she soon moved on from just commercials to films, her debut role being Virasat ('97) for which she won Best Supporting Actress.

Batra is well-known for her charity causes, and often acts for free in films that are dedicated to making money for such foundations as the Mukti (AIDS) and other helpful associations such homeless children's funds and police welfare causes.

Pooja presently makes her home in LA with her orthepedic surgeon-husband but that has not stopped her from being nominated for new awards, such as the Best Actress 2006 in Taj Mahal-An Eternal Love Story.
