Everyone loves Amazon.com, at least I do not know anyone who hates them. So doing what they do and that's doing something different and unique in comparison to their competitors, Amazon has launched Local Express Delivery.

What is Local Express Delivery? Well if you clicked the link I provided above then you should get a general idea. It is  basically same day delivery of orders placed before a certain time. (It varies by location)

1. It is only available in select cities right now, but I am sure it will expand to other major cities in no time. Currently it is available in, New York City, Philadelphia, Boston, Washington D.C., Seattle, Baltimore and Las Vegas.

2. What does it mean for shoppers? Although you do have to pay a fee for delivery you do get your item the same day it is ordered. It is great news for procrastinators and last minute gift givers. But what is same day? Do you get it end of business day local time? 7pm? 8pm? or even 10pm? The website does not clarify that question.

What about returns? Do they pick up your Express Local Delivery back from your house? And do you get the replacement item the next day? How quick are they in processing return orders?

If you order an item for Local Express Delivery, change your mind and what to cancel it, then is it too late to cancel? What is the reciprocation? If you are desperate enough to play that game that was just released, or can't wait to start reading that new book that is still hot off the paper mill, then this is the ideal service for you.

Personally, I am willing to wait a few extra days before the item I have just bought arrives. After looking at their shipping price points, I don't see why I would want to pay at least the full cost of the book or half the cost of a video game just to play the game or read the book the same day. In the end, Amazon is pushing the limits of how its competitors will react to a news like this. If they can afford to open warehouses and provide same day delivery will be their niche if no one else can compete with them.
