Buyers Beware

According to the personal experience of a former Ameriplan Representative's Rip-off Report, a group of self-employed contractors [who are in my close personal network], a dismissed broker of AmeriPlan and a Federal Reveiw, impresses me like the scandal of the AL Williams [A no name company, led by a high school football coach revolutionized the life insurance industry.] scandal in the 70s.

Ameriplan seems to be one of the most legit business on the market today. Feel free to watch the "complete" presentation and visit the corporate offices, I am certain you would see the same. AL Williams was a revolutionary company that helped many people. I met Hubert Humphrey personally and was impressed with his new company World Leadership Group, and his previous company of World Financial Group. Scammed is a VERY strong word to use on anyone or anything.

Yes, and so is AVON, the door-to-door sales associates are now in competition with MALL Stores and remember TUPPERWARE Parties? TUPPERWARE is now offered in discount chain stores like KMart, WalMart and so on.

I attended several of the recruiting meeting of AL Williams in Dublin, Georgia, nearing the end of my high school days and did not exactly understand anything outside of meetings, gathering personal information and winning trips. I am very proud of myself for NOT investing personal time to help the CORPORATION obtain personal information for its DATA BASE, especially after the fall-out that developed years later.

This Ameriplan operated on the same PREMIS - recruiting people to gather DATA for its INFORMATION MONSTER that baits members for healthcare that is not really health care but discounts that can be obtained "DIRECTLY from Health care Professionals" without ANY TYPE of CARD.

Example: An Amerplan member calls to obtain the number for labs, Y is it necessary for the member to disclose "the reason for the lab to a NON-MEDICAL person?

The group found an association linked to credit unions. If anyone is interested in "healthcare coverage" not a discount plan -- contact me via my website http://jazlive.com/contactus.aspx  - couples' rate is less than $400/mo (pregnancies are not covered) and a single person is less than $200/mo (pregnancies are not covered).  Prescription discounts is included.  I am not a representative nor will I get a dime for the info.  I will respond with the representative's name and phone number, He's a super nice guy!

Oh...and another thing. Did you actually take the time to read the so called WARNING? There are millions of members who are very satisfied with the product we offer. As far as people being able to get discounts without a card this is true but not as much will be discounted. Physicians make far more money when you pay out of pocket vs insurance because the prices are 500% over what they should be and that's whay insurance companies pay a doctor $70.00 instead of $350.00 for an office visit. This is WRONG!

I have read several pages and various websites about the Ameriplan scam tonight. First the Ameriplan company based in Plano, TX IS a legit company. Has the highest rate with the Dallas BBB. Has been featured on PBS in a very positive way. I could go on. Second, apparently there is an Ameriplan Financial company that appears to be a scam. This company is apparently the one offering some kind of credit card and discount card for $249. Ameriplan based in Plano NEVER had a time to get started with the company for $249. Third and final is if you are going to talk about a company, get the facts straight, get the correct name of the company and what it truely does. To find out what Ameriplan in Plano is all about visit their website and find out the true facts. And yes I am an IBO, an RSD in fact and your success with the real Ameriplan (or any company for that matter) is being truthful, ethical and applying yourself. I have met personally both Bloom brothers and several of the NVP's and I would trust them with NO reservations! Again, check for facts before saying anything about any company or anyone. Be Dream Achievers and builders, don't tear people down. tearing people down only tears you down.

JazLive All I can say is I feel sorry for you if you can't tell the difference between AmeriPlan and Ameriplan Financial. If a few reps were mislead or did not read the agreement before signing the dotted line and felt cheated compared with the tens of thousands IBO's and the 100s of thousands members who are satisfied then you must be someone just lookng at the negative of everything and distrust everyone. I have been invited to who knows how many network marketing companies and the ONLY one I ever joined is AmeriPlanUSA, Plano, TX because of the caliber of Dennis and Daniel Bloom. Being checked out by PBS, Highest rating available by the Dallas BBB, not to mention the lawyers of all the Fortune 500 company's that AmeriPlanUSA works with. Do you know more than the lawyers? I am not very big in the company, currently only a RSD, but I have never lost any money with them, their checks have never bounced and I misplaced a check and did not realize it for about a year and a half and when I advised AmeriPlan they issued another check to me. Doesn't sound like a scam to me. Maybe you are upset with AmeriPlanUSA for some reason and have a Vendetta against them or you don't have your facts straight and think AmeriPlan USA and Ameriplan Financial with it's apparently bogus $2000 credit card is the same company when it is NOT.

I never bought into Ameriplan as a business or a benefit, but know a rep who created great income and then lost his home after getting involved in the business. What disturbs me most is Mark Jarvis leaving Ameriplan to start his own MLM under the name of Zurvita.Right now the push is a discount coupon service that can be gotten free if one searches on the internet, so why build an MLM around something that is free? There are also dead links to upcoming 'health benefits" and "legal benefits" programs... so I guess whether Ameriplan works or is a scam, he is thinking he will get a MUCH BIGGER piece of the pie going out on his own. Looks like with the legal benefits, he'll be competing with PrePaid Legal.I'm not really happy that Mr. Jarvis is promoting it the way he is. I don't believe in using "God" or any other entity of that nature as a 'marketing or recruiting tool." But that's just my opinion.

I read these comments and I must admit that it is a shame that us "work from home seekers" cant trust any work from home company because of all the SCAMS out there.

In November of 2006 I worked for AmeriplanUSA. They had a  temporary Bonus where if you  enroll something like 6 members and 4 brokers with in thirty days you'll get a $500 bonus. I had gotten the bonus in less than two weeks, plus the commission (residual) that I earned for enrolling the members and brokers.

It was a little overwhelming for me and I didnt know how to be a TRUE leader as majority of the people that I hired were older than me asking me how I got to Regional Sales Director (one step up from a broker). Plus, some brokers didnt have the commitment that I had so if they quit I would have to stay on top of my game and replace them.

Im now jobless after working retail in Manhattan. I just hate standing on my feet for seven hours making only 10.50 an hour! It's brutal.

I think to myself now: "How much money would I have in residual if I would have stuck with Ameriplan and not get discouraged when a member or broker I enrolled quit on me".

So with that said, Im going to re-enroll and start from scratch.

Within one month of me working at home I made about $600 by choosing the Advanced payment option with the company (they pay you 6 months in advanced for each member or broker) that was my first month(not including my bonus). I worked hard. That may not seem like a lot to money but that was a start. Its a shame I didnt go forth.

Its basically building a chain and when a link breaks (a broker or member) replace it so that you can continue making it longer (Building residual, making more money).

It's a hussle. Thats the truth, but Id rather hussle and build an income than work in retail and make crap.

To sum it up, if your not willing to stay on the phone and talk to people interested in working from home then dont work for Ameriplan. If you get easily discouraged, dont work for Ameriplan. If you dont truly believe in what your doing, dont work for Ameriplan. When I started, I was making good sales, than I got discouraged and stopped believing and I stopped making sales.

Its truly amazing how you operate your mind and goals when you believe in what you do.

Other than that, I hope this message helped. Simply compare this opportunity with all the other work from home jobs. I did, and thats why Im coming back.

If you think you found a better opportunity, let me know. I havent found not one other than this one.

I published this HUB, initially to WARN about this SCAM to consumers. It is also working for some newbies seeking eCommerce ventures; who prefer not to offer scam programs just to make money, which will diminish their credibility in future earning opportunities.

Janet  says:

I worked with Ameriplan and it can work. It is not a scam although they advertise like one. Be careful which site you send prospects too. Now, if you are going to work for Ameriplan, you can earn a decent living after a spell, however you will have to invest about $200. at least each month to do this. Those phone calls cost a lot of money. They training calls alone doubled my phone bill. You are charged $50. month to be an IBO. You also pay for the much needed business cards & postcards or brochures. Leads are expensive. Discount leads are expensive. You can write all of this off when you do your taxes, but for some people that's their rent, mortgage, gas, bus, train &/or grocery money. Ameriplan requires an investment of time and money. Like any other investment, you will need to count the cost before you get started. If you can hardly afford to pay your rent, you may want to hold off on this investment & try something that is actually free (except business cards). You can not be successful with Ameriplan if you do not do the training calls, call at least 50 leads per day ($1. per lead = $50. day), do some foot work & put those business cards, brochures and postcards out there. It's very risky to put this on a credit card with the hopes of making it all back by the time the card burns out. Also, consider what may happen if Obama becomes president & his healthcare plan passes. Many people will drop or not do Ameriplan & do his plan. Many workers will drop because they are losing members. I would say that if you really want to do Ameriplan and you have at least $200. extra per month, do it, work it hard & invest the money, so that when Obama becomes president & his plan passes and Ameriplan begins to sink, you will have gotten a good return on you tiime & money.

Ameriplan is a real company and is not a scam...I have read lots of people complaining about ameriplan...I must say Ameriplan isn't perfect..who is! But alot of times its a misunderstanding or the person who brought them into the business or as a member said the wrong things to them...like for example I have seen that people are saying that ameriplan comes off saying that they are insurance...and that is not true! Do your research people! Alot of times for ex reps they complain just because they didn't follow the rules and broke them and then didn't like the fact that they were no longer a rep...and blamed ameriplan...when really it was their fault!

I wrote an in depth article on Ameriplan and how folks could feel scammed on this link. Just be careful of the team you join. Some people really run numbers and don't give the help needed.

Biz owners can start up for only $25.00 for the month of September.

You can also call me at 347-240-1311 and I will be happy to tell you the ins and outs of the business and show you exactly how this company can work for you.

Don't forget, it's just $25 to sign up from August 29th to September 30th. If you can afford a large pizza with extra cheese and pepperoni, you can afford to own your own business with Ameriplan.

Before you say you don't have $25, ask yourself: based on what I am doing right now, how long would it take me to make enough money to get the things my family wants? And yes it is tough, but am I at least willing to try? Am I willing to get the tools and learn how to run my own business so I can keep making money month after month, year after year?

It's sort of like making cake. There are those people who want to make cake by just adding water for fear their cake won't turn out right. Then there are those who are willing to take the time to get the ingredients, get the recipe and the right tools so that they can make cake on their own, no matter how it turns out at first. Sure, the "just add water" cake tastes good. But when it's done, you have nothing left. You have not done anything.

But if you take the time to learn, as time passes, your cake will get better and better. You may start investing in higher quality ingredients and high quality mixing tools and soon people will want you to teach them how to do what you do; all because you took the time and made an honest commitment to learn this new skill.

The same is true with working for Ameriplan. More millionaires are made in this field than any other field, yet people do not want to take it seriously. It may be because they do not want to admit that the only difference between them and someone who becomes successful running an Ameriplan business is that they were willing to work hard and learn a new skill. They threw away their excuses. They said "I will commit. I'll give it time. I will not just add water."

You people are sorely mislead. Ameriplan Settles Fraud Allegations for $200,000

Montana State Auditor John Morrison announced he has reached a settlement agreement with AmeriPlan to resolve allegations of insurance and securities fraud. In July, Morrison issued a cease and desist order after charging AmeriPlan USA, its founding officers, Dennis and Daniel Bloom, and Shirl Shelley, a Montana resident, with numerous violations of both the Montana Insurance Code and the Montana Securities Act. The action taken against AmeriPlan was the first of its kind in Montana, relying on a new law governing medical care discount cards. Morrison requested the legislation last session to ensure that medical care discount card providers were legitimate before they were allowed to sell their products in Montana.

"This settlement agreement serves to remind medical discount card companies that protecting Montanans is our number one priority," said Morrison. "If discount card providers refuse to play by our new rules, they will pay the price and won't be allowed to operate in Montana."

Under the agreement, AmeriPlan must pay an administrative fine of $200,000 and create a restitution fund for Montana customers who were duped by the company. Montana customers of AmeriPlan can expect to receive a letter informing them that they are eligible to submit a claim to the restitution fund. In addition, AmeriPlan is banned from marketing and selling its products in Montana for two years.

AmeriPlan and its agents and officers were accused of failing to contract with the medical care providers (including doctors, nurse practitioners, physician's assistants and hospitals) they advertise as participants in AmeriPlan's medical care discount program. The Auditor alleged that more than 700 Montana AmeriPlan members in the state were unable to use the discount cards because there were few, if any, providers in Montana. Additionally, AmeriPlan is charged with conducting an illegal pyramid promotional scheme because it sold "broker packages" for the purpose of recruiting memberships. Because the memberships were for discounts that did not exist, Morrison alleged there was no actual product being sold. AmeriPlan's largest source of income in Montana was from the sales of these "broker packages," according to the Auditor's charging document.

According to the auditor, AmeriPlan's website and other advertising, including oral assertions from some of its agents, claimed to have medical care providers, dentists, and chiropractors contracted to provide a significant discount through the purchase of its card. When the Auditor's office investigated these claims they were unable to find a medical care provider or chiropractor who honored the discount cards. The only dentist who had contracted with AmeriPlan was located in Forsyth and was on probationary status with the Montana Board of Dentistry for his unlawful activities in Colorado. The new law requires the discount card companies to have contracts for services with providers located within a 60 mile radius of the card holder.

The company was told to stop its activity in Nov. 2005 but AmeriPlan continued to market its discount cards until the matter was referred to Morrison's legal staff in late April. Additional charges included securities fraud, using deceptive or fraudulent practices in the marketing of their discount cards, selling unregistered securities by unregistered salespersons and failure to stop marketing the cards when they were not properly registered.

"With insurance premiums on the rise consumers are searching for ways to obtain medical care coverage at a manageable cost," said Morrison. "These fake discount card operators are preying on folks who are trying to find alternative solutions to the high cost of heath insurance. Our main goal is protecting Montanans while aggressively pursuing those bad actors in the industry who are exploiting the health care crisis facing consumers."

The settlement agreement can be found at www.mt.gov/sao. Montananswith questions regarding the settlement are being directed to call the State Auditor's Office at 800-332-6148.

If you click on the link at the top (link in the 5th comment box) and actually read it, the heading is "Is Ameriplan USA a scam", not "Ameriplan Warning". Read the article and you will see that the person who put that link on here obviously did not. It is a very good review for Ameriplan.

Amanda  says:

The link I spoke of above also says toward the end that the "71 flavors" that are mentioned above are from customers who did not understand what they were reading. Anyone who pays attention knows exactly what Ameriplan is and the people who need it usually cannot afford health insurance from an insurance company or they are younger people who don't need the whole kit-an-kaboodle, so they use Ameriplan to get just what they need at a great price. No, I do not work for Ameriplan; I have just known about them for many, many years.

Amanda  says:

This is just rediculous. If you post things on here you should at least read the whole thing first. I am now speaking of the link below the YouTube video below that begins with "Latest job fair". In the middle of that article it mentions people outside the arena giving out pamphlets for jobs to supposedly make you rich; Ameriplan is mentioned in this part but, if you read further you will see that it says that Ameriplan is a legitimate business that was allowed to show inside the arena where the 'get rich quick' schemes were not.

Ameriplan USA ReviewIs Ameriplan USA A Scam?

When looking for a great home based business, I came across the Ameriplan USA. This business seems to offer a good deal of perks for those who are brave enough to take on a home based business. Most of the fly-by-night companies do not offer much of anything except training support. They are nothing more than a pyramid business with no options or benefits.

Below are some of the benefits I have seen that Ameriplan USA offers:

- They have an advantage over the fly-by-night businesses and that is longevity. Ameriplan was created in 1992 and is still going strong.

Warning! We have spent $113,317 testing and reviewing different opportunities and money making strategies. Whether it's stock market investing, real estate investing, internet marketing, direct mail, MLM, or buying a franchise, we've been scammed, cheated, and lied to! It took testing hundreds of opportunities to find out what works and what doesn't. If you want to find out what is making us an excellent income from home then........ Click HERE To Discover The Secret Behind Internet Business Success

-They offer a good product that millions of Americans actually need. It is well known that perhaps the best way to make money is to focus on a need that people have. If you can fill that need, you have a good money maker. The statistics of the Census Bureau show the number of uninsured Americans is currently at a record high of nearly 46.6 million. Ameriplan offers people a practical solution that is reasonably priced. Their membership offers a discounted healthcare membership network that can save people money on medical care as well as dental procedures, prescriptions, vision, chiropractic services to name a few.

- Reasonably priced services and products that everyone can benefit from. Memberships to Ameriplan can start at around $11.95 per month for an individual and as low as $19.95 per month for a whole family.- They offer their “new business partners” a benefit package where most other companies offering home based business opportunities do not. That alone makes them exceptional.

-They offer an excellent Business Opportunity. This is the ideal business plan as it is very easy to do with little work. Ameriplan does not require licensing, office space, inventory or even employees. They offer a solid pay structure, utilizing a multi-level marketing pay structure.

Their representatives do not hound people to try to get them to sell their product. The product seems to sell itself. There have been bad reviews listed from the consumers in the past, but

most seem to be from misconceptions. They think they are buying a health plan like those offered from major medical insurance carriers there for, when they do not get the same copay’s, they are disappointed. They are looking for a quick fix and aren’t sure how to utilize the discounted medical plan that Ameriplan has to offer. More people today are turning to plans such as Ameriplan, as most medical facilities accept most all types of insurance plans.

Louis,

I started this thread for "consumers ~ victims"

The majority of comments are from corporate representatives, who will be used up like tubes of toothpaste.

Representatives for AmeriPlan are brokers -  http://www.rediff.com/money/2005/aug/22broker.htm

How does the link above apply to AmeriPlan Reps?

In laymans terms, keeping an active "downline" pays the "rep/broker" as more and more reps struggle to meet corporate goals ~ the "goal pool" diminishes however, the Corporation thrives as reps come and go.

When reps leave ~ their data bases remain and get "reworked with some other junk third-party offer" ~ the Corporation thrives in third-party residual income via slave work of a rep who has left the Corporation.

In the interum ~ the victimized consumer gets more and more offers; thanks to that REP who collected their information to feed the Coporation "information monster'

So Mr or Mrs data collector, this HUB is NOT 4 U

This HUB is for consumers.

I don't think Ameriplan is a Scam... I barely started and is not like other "jobs from home" I'm really skeptical about this "jobs from home" so I do like to do a lot of research before taking any step forward... however you need to understand that "INTERNET" now is another field where people and companies will use to help their busineses to grow... the same way people can fool you in a "real" job, Don't tell me you haven't heard that.. I've heard people complaining about places and companies... or even in the news when people take the time to create a fake office and stuff like that... so anyways...

I think that everyone should always do research on a company before jumping right in. I have to say that although Ameriplan is one large corporation, each individual is their own boss. So is someone is getting ripped off they should file a complaint with their IBO (Independent Business Owner). It just may be that that particular person is not following standard procedures. I'm not with Ameriplan but I did my homework and they are suppose to approve all online ads. But how many people do you think actually will send in something to be approved when they can just quickly do it themselves and get it over with.

Some people will complain because they don't do their research and see that you will not make money overnight. Some of us as Americans want instant gratification without actually working for it. They just need to take their time and research the BBB about the main corporation, not just independent business owners; which are also listed in the BBB.

As a registered nurse, I know first hand what Ameriplan did for a patient in our hospital. The patient did not have insurance so, when it was time to pay the bill, Ameriplan's advocacy group came in and renegotiated the patient's bill. A $12,000 bill was knocked down to $943.64. It is amazing to see people who do not do their research on a company that has a health benefits product like no other. I will not be back on this board so keep complaining to yourself.....you people are so mislead about this company it is really quite pathetic.

the bottom line is do your research, if you live in a market where many providers are available, the business opportunity is there, as a member you have providers to get the benefits...you live in a state like montana, HELLO! the least populated state in the country i believe...I"ve done my research, and I will be joining for both member benefits and the IBO opportunity...you bleeding heart victim mentality morons go WAY out of your way to provide a site and contribute to a site to get other losers a license to whine and damage a reputable company like Ameriplan...

Jazlive, you need to get a job or some hobbies. You seem to have too much time on your hand with all your ignorant rants. Ameriplan USA is a great opportunity for people who need work, but for some reason cannot or choose not to work outside the home. As a mother of four under the age of 6, I choose not to work outside the home while I pursue my MBA, so that I do not lose time with my children. Ameriplan has given me the freedom to do so. I researched it for days prior to making the decision to join as on IBO. I don't know how you can call this company a scam when out of @ million plus members you have only found what was that 80 something complaints. You obviously are an uneducated fool. It is up to us as a consumer to read and research everything before we decide to buy or join anything. Those who don't have noone to blame but themselves. Anyone who is thinking of purchasing or joining as an IBO, do your homework and you'll see that this IS a GREAT opportunity to anyone who is willing to do the work. I have done other work from home jobs, but I wasn't satisfied with the the way I am with Ameriplan USA. So Jazlive, does this mean you will begin calling Google, Craigslist, etc... scams since there are scams using their name and logo? There are several large companies out there whose names are being used to scam people but if you look into it you can find which is which. As for the Montana residence, they were fooled only by their own stupidity. Why, when there is a link to view providers, did they not look before signing up as a memeber? Yes, Ameriplan settled because sometimes in the long run it is easier to settle than to keep accruing court costs, attorneys fees, wasted time, etc... Finally, as to the sharing of information. It was not Ameriplan's idea to do this, but rather the requirements of the Federal Trade Commission. Many of the Representatives of Ameriplan USA tried to dispute the passing of this law, but obviously it still went into play. So you need to do your homework before you start sharing your ignorance among those who are foolish enough to listen and believe it. This IBO opportunity is the same as any other job. You have to do the work to get the results you want. If you sit back and do nothing, nothing will happen. If you want to make money you have to work at it. The harder you work the better the results. You can also generate your own leads. Everytime you're at the grocery store talk to people in the line. Talk to other parents from your children's schools. You'd be surprised how much you can help families who are underinsured and make money by just talking to someone at the same, normal, everyday places you already go. I wish you all the best of luck in all that you do whether it's with Ameriplan or not. Jazlive, I wish you luck at finding some hobbies, a job, and/or ending your ignorance.

I am not "attacking" you because we disagree. I am merely pointing out that you are only telling things one sided. You are are making it seem as if Ameriplan is just some huge scam and that people should avoid the business and service opportunities because of a few complaints and one rediculous law suit. When I am working I am extremely professional. With you I see no point in being so, since quite obviously you seem intent on making people who work for Ameriplan, such as myself, seem like scam artists. I take that as an insult. I would never slander a company or try to get people to stay away from it because out of more than 2 million people I have found about 80 complaints. That IS ignorance. I don't need your link to find a "real job", since I am quite successful and happy with my work as it is. I've done the "real job" before and I'd rather wait till I get my degree before I return to working in an office setting. What you don't realize is, that many of us are stay at home mothers who need to make income but still want to raise our children, rather than having a daycare or nanny do it for us. It's honest, hardworking, passionate people who do what we do. Now granted, I'm not saying every single person in the company is, but every large and small company has their share of bad apples. I think you should just do more homework, before you decide to slander anyone. Obviously you didn't. Yippie, you were person of the week!!! You must be proud. I could go on with a list of commendations and awards I've received, but it doesn't make you a better person to receive them...it just means at some point you did better than someone else. Temporarily. I really hope that that wasn't the highlight of your oh so wonderful life though.

I went to your link, yet once again, that is a scam reguarding Ameriplan Financial. Our company never sells a card with a balance of $2500.00 for $249.00. Check your facts and resources. What we offer is priced at $20.00 and $30.00. Our IBO is priced at $95.00 to start and $50.00 to maintain. Really, educate yourself before you start making your accusations.

Hello,

I am new to blogging but did come across the Ameriplan offer and I am just as skeptical. Especially since I have tried about 4 or 5 other home businesses that did not pan out for me. I do not have a problem doing hard work as long as it is a legit business and I can make money and prosper from it. I have not quite signed up with Ameriplan yet, I want to but I am still in the research stage. I am unemployed and it had not been determined if I will recieve unemployment. I would really like to take advantage of this business opportunity if it is not a scam. From my research I am leaning towards it not being classfied as a scam but would like some more evidence.

LORI  says:

Shanne....

if you check with the U.S Chamber of Commerce, Free Trade Commission, and the Dallas Better Business Bureau, you will see that this company is completely legit. Yes, there is another company out there by the name of Ameriplan Financial who is scamming people using the pretense of being our company. If you see where they offer a card with a $2500 limit for $249, that's the scam. Yes, Ameriplan was sued, and did settle. The law suit was rediculous, since those who claimed to have been "scammed" failed to check for providers in their areas before purchasing. Ameriplan did settle for $200,000. Sometimes it's easier to settle than to drag out a long and extremely costly court battle though. So I encourage you to do your homework first, but you will see that it is ultimately a great company to go into business with. There are no promises of making $10,000 a week but if you put in the effort, you will see a nice return on your work.

I stumbled upon AmeriPlan accidently while looking for jobs. I checked out this site because I wanted to read and check out everything both positive and negative about it. The thing is...I haven't been able to find anything negative about this company that doesn't seem to be disputed by all the positive comments. As for the Montana thing, even insurance companies don't honor their own contracts and pay out like their supposed to. One of the things that appealed to me about AmeriPlan is that they offer a discount for their IBO's which is great for people like me with health problems that can't get insurance. After hearing what they do for people in the hospital, I don't feel like I have anything to lose. I've talked to one of your reps, she's like me, she worked in the health care field and has seen traditional insurance fail a lot of us. This site actually helped me make this decision, I'll be contacting a rep.

You folks may be making money and in some instances AmeriPlan may help folks with their medical bill. However, the information above from Kai regarding the leagl decision AGAINST AmeriPlan speaks volumes to me. If the company was totally above board they would not have had this decision or fine or be making payments to consumers as a result. Of course every person should do their research before signing up for a plan. But a business should have a fail-safe in place to reject applications where there are no providers. I see many offers on line that indicate areas or states where there services are not available. There are many companies that have created very lucrative opportunities for their representatives only to find later that their practices were predatory in nature. As an example; Somone above spoke of WLG (World Leadership Group). I know a couple of folks that have done VERY well with this company. Literally going from paycheck to paycheck to quitting their job and being self sustaining through WLG. I also know several people that purchased homes through WLG who have now lost those homes because of the types of mortgages they were put into. They were given certain assurances and now are just a** out. You may be making money, but it doesn't mean that the company does not have certain questionable or predatory practices. This is, again, evidenced by the $200,000 legal decision against AmeriPlan Texas mentioned above in Kai's comments.

I HAVE BEEN A MEMBER OF AMERIPLAN FOR THREE YEARS NOW, NOT AS AN EMPLOYEE. I HAVE TO SAY THATI'M SURPRISED ABOUT THE THINGS I'M READING. I ACTUALLY LOVE THE BENEFITS OF HAVING THIS MEMBERSHIP. WHEN I FIRST JOINED, THERE WEREN'T ANY PROVIDERS IN MY AREA, BUT THE REP TOLD ME IF I EVER TRAVELED OUT OF TOWN WHERE THERE WERE, I WOULD STILL GET THE SAME BENEFITS. AND I DID. IT WASN'T UNTIL ABOUT 6 MONTHS AGO THAT THERE WERE SOME HERE. MAYBE THAT'S WHY THEY SOLD TO PEOPLE IN MONTANA. SO THEY COULD SAVE IF THEY TRAVELED. I TRAVEL ABOUT HALF THE YEAR FOR MY WORK, AND THERE WERE TIMES THAT I GOT SICK AND EVEN BROKE A TOOTH. SO I USED MY MEMBERSHIP TO SAVE THE MONEY. IF PEOPLE IN MONTANA BOUGHT THIS, THEY SHOULD HAVE CHECKED FOR THEMSELVES. MAYBE THAT'S WHY THEY DON'T HAVE A "FAIL-SAFE" SYSTEM. HOW MANY TIMES HAS FORD, WAL-MART, TARGET, K-MART, JC PENNY, AND MANY OTHER STORES BEEN SUED? DO YOU STILL SHOP THERE? NO MAJOR CORPORATION HAS A PERFECT HISTORY. MANY SETTLE OUT OF COURT SO THAT THE GENERAL PUBLIC DOESN'T EVEN HAVE A CLUE ABOUT THESE LAWSUITS. AND I AGREE WITH LORI, THEY PROBABLY SETTLED TO AVOID PAYING MORE LEGAL AND COURT FEES. NOW DAYS YOU CAN SUE ANYONE FOR ANYTHING. FOR EXAMPLE, THE STUPID LADY WHO SUED MC DONALDS BECAUSE HOT COFFEE BURNED HER. OR THE IDIOT WHO SUED THEM BECAUSE HE BECAME OVERWEIGHT EATING THERE, BECAUSE THEY DIDN'T HAVE NUTRIONAL FACTS ON THEIR FOODS. HOW STUPID AND FOOLISH ARE THOSE LAWSUITS. YOU GET WHAT YU ASK FOR. ALL IN ALL, I'M EXTREMELY SATISFIED WITH MY EXPERIENCES WITH AMERIPLAN USA.

Ripoffreport is all garbage! they are a ripoff...i don't believe ANYTHING they have to say but isn't it amazing that people will believe that bogus website over 16 million members on Ameriplan's plans and over 60,000 people working for the company. There are way more satisfied customers and employees than NOT! People are just ignorant and uneducated and unfortunately they are out there trying to ruin it for others who desperately need benefits or a legitimate work from home opportunity.

I'm also someone thinking of signing up for Ameriplan as a new ibo member. I really liked what I saw at their website and know it isn't insurance. I work for jackson hewitt and this year we have a similar product. This type of product is not a scam it really works. It's not meant to be insurance, but as a way for people to save money on their medical costs if they don't have insurance or don't have enough. If something isn't covered by insurance then at least you don't have to pay the full cost. I'm impressed by the fact that they have been in business for 16 years. I actually wanted to sell insurance with companies like combined insurance, but they didn't think I'd get through the licensing exams. So I'm thinking that maybe this is more at my level than actual insurance. I want to do something that has me interfacing with the public with something they actually need and want and practical for today. I would have to say that this most definitely fits that need with insurance so expensive and so many people without it especially in todays times of the rough economy. As to some of the complaints I've heard well I think they are mainly misconceptions because some don't realize this is not insurance, but a health savings plan. Also the complaint about no providers can be resolved if they check for providers beforehand. I live in North Central IL up by Chicago and there are providers in my town even so I know there is a market for this offering in my area and I really like the idea. I'm actually going more to the way of self employment anyway. I've been working for jackson hewitt for the past 3 years and am now planning on doing taxes on my own. I'm going to set it up this tax season with the intention to do it more full time next tax season, but new businesses take time to develop. I like this fact about Ameriplan that it doesn't boast overnight success. Real successful businesses take time and effort to materialize into something wonderful. I was actually contacted on myspace by the upline and surprisingly she also works for jackson hewitt in Indiana. I think Ameriplan can work very well for someone that has worked for jackson hewitt cause you have to interface with the public in that arena and the same applies to Ameriplan. As to if I like talking on the phone well I'd have to say that considering every week I talk on the phone with my dad for 4+ plus hours every week. It isn't just my dad, I love to talk to people in person and on the phone. This won't be a problem for me. I intend on making the time to make the contacts and do the training. I'm hoping it won't be too intensive like the insurance training was going to be cause I'm also in college though I do go online to Kaplan University. I'm a single mom and I'd like to stay home with my son who is 7 rather than constantly fight with the babysitter cause I didn't get home on time or because there is some issue with her. I really think this could be something great for me to do. I'm still in the research stage, but I'm just about sold as the consensus seems to be that they are a great company to work for and to get great savings. I read some of their testimonials from IBOs and members and I have to say I almost fell out of my seat with some of the results. I'd like to learn more about their legal help as I'm going through a divorce and it'd be nice to have legal help in that area. The online counseling seems fantastic also. So far I like everything I have heard about them, but am going to keep doing the research. I have been burned in the past and was almost a victim of the wire transfer scam, chain letter scam. I also received a check once from FedEx in the amount of $3000 that was handwritten from a grocery store in Washington. After careful research I determined that someone got ahold of their check stock and wrote false checks. My ex and I were once a victim of the advance fee loan scam where you put money up front to get a loan. We paid $700 to get $5000 two weeks before Christmas in 2007. After they tried to get an additional $700 we did everything we could to get our money back and when we didn't this made me extra skeptical when it seems too good to be true. So like a lot of other people researching Ameriplan before committing I'm doing my research to make sure it isn't a scam and after my research thus far I'd say it's not. I have read all the comments and I'd have to say I'm very displeased with the bickering going on here. If you are a disgruntled employee it isn't going to make you happy to make others feel bad. Just move on and move up. If you don't think Ameriplan will work for you don't join and leave it at that. It's better to pass the word for actual scams than make a legitimate company that has been in the press and in business for 16 years look bad. There are so many real scams out there that we should be fighting to stop so don't stop the good ones.

Hey Folks. I just read what everyone wrote. I am an insurance broker in CO. I am a member of Ameriplan but not because I'm trying to make a million with them. I'm with them because I was looking for a more affordable option for my clients. To ad a dental insurance rider to your health insurance plan its $30+ a month and the benifits with most the companies aren't so great. One of my insurance friends mentioned ameriplan. I looked into it and was quote pleased with what they could offer my clients. I've put a lot of my clients with them and they are all very happy with the money they're saving AND their benifits. Ameriplan is a real company. The problem with America is that everyone wants to get paid for doing nothing. Theres no such thing as getting rich quickly. Selling Ameriplan is a lot like selling health insurance. You have to call people and sign them up. I'm not surprised that some people signed up, didn't work, didn't make money, and so automatically called it a scam.

Anyway, thats what I have to say about Ameriplan. My clients have been so happy with them that they've sent referals over.

Have a great day ya'll

I was scammed. I was told it would save me discounts on prescriptions. After changing over to Ameriplan from Walgreens, the prescriptions cost more money with Ameriplan than when I started with Walgreens. I was told I would get a refund.....then I was told to wait thirty days for the refund. After 45 days (today) and no response to my emails or phone calls, I'm told 'sorry, we don't give refunds". For those of you who want to give me negative response, feel free to refund my $95 if you believe in Ameriplan. To me it cost me money = scam.

Navarre, Elizabeth and any other individual seeking information on becoming an IBO with AmeriPlan.

I use the memberships myself and my family have saved hundreds of dollars, over $200 on just one pair of glasses for my teenage daughter. Also, being a part of this business has allowed me the flexibility to take care of a disabled parent, send two girls to college and pay my mortgage and my bills.

I've had the pleasure of meeting many of the top earners of this company at a leadership training in Detroit during the month of January 2009. These people were real and they love what they are doing...as do I. Our team has a great training site...and the environment is all about being part of a team.

Also, I have many members using the medical/dental plans. The plans work. We partner with all the major optical providers and pharmacies. You are welcome to visit my website and click on any of the videos, one of the links will take you directly to the interview with Morley Safer. AmeriPlan is a member in good standing of the US Chamber of Commerce, the Dallas Texas Retailer Association, and the National Association of Dental Plans. A prospective member or an existing member or IBO can look up prescriptions and see how much a prescription costs with the discount. The ability to look up providers in your area is also available on the site. There are links to news articles as well.

I am also a licensed insurance agent, and as with any company, the price for prescriptions may vary from one carrier to another. AmeriPlan does not represent that they will be the "lowest priced" prescription, but does represent that you will save money on your prescription and other services...a savings from 20-80%.

I ask, do we not have membership cards at wholesale clubs for less discounts than these? Do we not shop for sales? Yes, we do. Do we sometimes wish that the discount was bigger on that marked down item at the clothing store? Yes, we do. A discount is a discount...20-80%. For the senior market with no dental coverage, for the uninsured or underinsured, for the individuals that can't qualify for health coverage because of health conditions and for the families that can't afford the cost of health care coverage...AmeriPlan is a great alternative. That's what we are, an alternative to the high cost of health care...the trend of Consumer Driven Healthcare....One last point, AmeriPlan offers a great way to earn income from home, around your own schedule. It's not a vacation, it's takes a real comittment and desire to succeed. If you move, your business moves with you, unlike some other business opportunities. So, if you are ready to take your financial future in your own hands or knows someone that could benefit from our servcies, please visit www.ChangingLivesOneByOne.com

If you want to contact me to try to argue the fact, don't bother. I have first hand knowledge, experience and use of the services. I receive checks regularly and have had no problems with the business opportunity or the discounts offered.

For those of you genuinely interested in making a living from home, I'll be glad to answer any questions that you may have.

Be blessed.

Jazlive I think you need to get out more. Your comment on Tupperware being in discount stores like Kmart and Wal-Mart are totally untrue. They did, several years ago, try to sell some products at Target, but pulled them as they sell better through the independent consultants. Tupperware is NOT sold in any store except the RARE Tupperware store/kiosk at a mall. There are similar products, but they are cheap immitations which I wouldn't trust for anything.

As for Ameriplan, I've been doing research on them for quite a while, and when I have the money I will be joining as an IBO. Too many people around me have to live on unemployment which won't even cover most people's rent or mortgages let alone any kind of health coverage or discount plans. What's worse is most of the medical community has forgotten their oath to care for the sick regardless of ability to pay and charge outragous amounts for stupid stuff like administering a shot. Who can afford to pay $90+ for the doctor visit, another $20 + for someone to administer a shot and ???$ for the actual shot? I would love to have a way to get a discount on medical expenses for my family or even my 72 year old dad who can only get Medicare but makes less at the "Rats" house than a 18 year old flipping burgers. He sold insurance and couldn't even afford it himself. Too bad Ameriplan wasn't around and more known when he sold insurance, maybe my mom would still be alive.

Just finished reading the entire page of comments. Interesting. I will say, I live in Georgia (USA). Been an Ameriplan IBO since end of Novemeber.

Have not used it's Medical or Dental benefits. I have used their Auto Club benefits (roadside assistance). More than once and didn't have to do anything but sign my name for the tow on two different occassions and having it towed a distance to my home, less than $20.00.

Ameriplan offers more than dental, medical. They offer discount legal, and retail discounts as well, as have a great discount Rx plan. It is never recommended that someone drop any type of discount plan such as walgreens (why would you do that?) Ameriplan discounts can be used in addition too. And now anyone paying over 90.00 a month in rx, can get their rx free through a rx plan Ameriplan has.

I am stunned at how so many people think they are experts on Ameriplan and know nothing about it at all. What made you people who are slamming the company think you are experts? Have you ever worked for them? Have you ever gotten a check from them? Are you using their service? Well, we who are, love it! I will laugh at you every time I go to the bank with my residual check which grows month-by-month. Soon I will be making $100,000 a year with Ameriplan and that is just residual; from work I've done in the past. All the people who have earned good money at Ameriplan and are still doing so will smile at all you nay-sayers and say, you think what you want; we are happy and content. Isn't it amazing that the bad news or misunderstandings about any company, or anything for that matter, seems to be so much more popular than the positive and the good? What does that say about the human race? If you read every review on any product or company, you will find all kinds of dirt, but guess what....the things still work and are still going forward. So you nay-sayers about Ameriplan, you just keep saying bad things about it; you know you are afraid to do what we are doing; you don't have the courage to have your own business and make it work. And we wouldn't want you in our company. This is the only business there is out there with an investment of $50 that can make you a six-figure income in 3 to 5 years. Count on it. I've done the others. Nothing works but this as a homebased business. Have a nice life!

Having just been taken to the cleaners by Ameriplan I can tell you that many of these postings are simply done - at the suggestion of the teams - inorder to sell or scam more people. They particularly suggest that you use software to do automatic article submissions so that you only write one article and it goes multiple places. This is just one of the multiple ways they tell you to do business. For every one of their people who truly did make big bucks, and it is interesting that every one of those 100's of emails an IBO gets from them that list of names never seems to change, their had to be many people like me to make that happen. What's legal may not necessarily be right. If you can stomach taking people, it will probably work for you, me I would rather be able to sleep at night.

Oh give me a break, "I will laugh at you every time I go to the bank", you're the exact type of douchebag that AmeriPlan sucks in. The vapid airhead women that want to wave a check around to show how much better they are than you.

The only traces of your "business" I have found are interlinking blogs and BS PR reports that you've spammed out ( and no one has picked up ). Please, post up a screen of one of these residual checks.

If you do finally notch over $100k, congrats, that's the equivalent of $50k in the Irvine, CA area. I myself will laugh at you each time I look at my six figure salary that WASNT built on scamming others out of their income.

If you think Ameriplan is a Scam, you are stupid and retarded. Learn the real information before you start saying things you don't know first hand!

I've been with Ameriplan for 2 months, and have made over $4,500. And sure, Ameriplan does charge back your ADVANCE pay if the member cancels, but Ameriplan has a 90% retention rate, and I have yet to see one of my members cancel. So learn the facts before you dis-regard the company.

I have been considering becoming an IBO with Ameriplan. This blog has definately influinced my decission. I am looking forward to building my future with Ameriplan.

Jazlive, if your goal is to truly help people to not be scammed, and Ameriplan was truly a scam, well, your defying your own goals. Your idiocracies are leading people to the very path you claim to be trying to protect them from. It is obvious by your very negative efforts that you have an agenda. It is a shame that you do not focus that energy in a more constructive manner.

For Nick, who's been with AmeriPlan for 2 months, and all the other deceived people on this site, let's get serious. AmeriPlan has never had a 90% retention rate nor will it ever. It's crazy to think that is possible of any multilevel marketing plan.

Though the website is not user friendly, I found out all I needed to know about Ameriplan. Just go to the Better Business Bureau website and you'll see: www.bbb.org/US/ When page comes up, select "for consumers" then when page comes up "check out business" then when form comes up enter only one thing, the name: Ameriplan USA and then click on "Search" A list will come up and click on the first one, Ameriplan corporate, click on that and right there before you is their BBB Relaibility Rating: a big fat "F" Then they proceed to explain why: 201 complaints for: difficulty cancelling service, misinforming about available providers (and it ain't just in Montana, though that should be a huge red flag!), and the best one: "unauthorized charges". Also, IBO's (the poor folks that got hooked into this me$$) having trouble cancelling their business "opportunity".

So there it is. You can't just go to BBB, put in the name and hope it comes up because they are NOT members! Someone mentioned 16 years - what a laugh. The evil twins (aka Dennis & Daniel) schemed for years before they hit on Ameriplan and prospered greatly. Now much of that gorgeous headquarters is in the dark (been on a "tour" lately?) The mortgage arm run by the "fiancee" of one of the twins is gone. So are a lot of the customer service people. So are the folks that used to recruit for more providers. Yep. All 200 or so of them. Health care reforms are coming and with them the end of the Ameriplan gravy train. Let's face it. Most decent dental and medical providers wouldn't touch this with a 10-foot pole because the fees are ridiculously low. If you join, be sure you check out the provider before you go. If you go to the yearly meeting, look around you: most of those people won't be back next year.

Yeah looks to me like everyone writing good things in New to the company. A few older members but I saw a news broadcast once that said any company asking you to pay to work for them is a fraud. I've never had a job where I had to pay the company monthly to be there. Maybe a union but not the company.

The Freedom At Home Team, the fastest growing team within AmeriPlan is now on tv. Watch for us on channels such as LIFETIME and OXYGEN. Why would this team or the founders make such a strong statement as to be on tv, if they were not offering legitimate services. Anyone can find negative with anything, I'm sure, if they look hard enough for it. Surely, any company that's been around for awhile and has had millions of customers, are going to have 'a few' disgruntled ones. Those same 'disgruntled' ones are probably disgruntled in many areas of their lives. Life is too short... LIVE and LOVE like you mean it. You can view our commercial and read/hear other PRO- HOME BUSINESS links on my site, http://www.dreamsrock.com. Even Warren Buffet, the 2nd top income earner in the United States, backs the home-based business idea. AmeriPlan may not be for everyone, but it for a majority. And yes, I am with AmeriPlan.

Rogaine 4 ewoks,

That's because you DON'T ever pay to have a 'job'. That is correct. AmeriPlan is a home-based business, not a 'job'. If you owned your owned business as a mechanic, barber, restaurant owner, etc., you would have some type of 'investment' and/or 'overhead'. The same is true with AmeriPlan or ANY OTHER legitimate home-based business. AmeriPlan just has a MINIMAL, I believe, unequally matched, investment/overhead for it's Independent Business Owners. Home, or away from home, you'll be looking for a good while to find a business you can call your own for what you can have one with AmeriPlan.

Ameriplan is not a scam it really is a legit company. I thought so to at first. if you are serious about working from home and willing to work hard. you won't get rich over night but over time the pay is nice.

All I can say is……

When I was first introduced to Ameriplan in November 2007, it took me 3 months to finally become an Independent Business Owner due to all the negative junk I found on the internet when I was doing my research. I HAD to be SURE (there was no way I could share a company with people that wasn’t reputable). I almost bought into all that negative junk. Luckily, I based my decision on the FACTS (the company’s credentials) to finally join. EVERY negative comment I found was due to one of these reasons: a misunderstanding, not a good fit in the first place, not following procedure, expecting get rich quick or little effort, not working the business consistently or being accountable for one’s own success, trying to reinvent the wheel and failing to be coachable and trainable, not giving the business a fair shot/giving up too soon, or (especially) just someone trying to promote their new venture using negativity to attract people and playing upon their fears.

If you HONESTLY and TRUTHFULLY want to be an advocate for the consumer and publish unbiased, complete and 100% accurate information, you would be OBJECTIVE and NOT SUBJECTIVE in finding out what REALLY happened in Montana, with the BBB, the provider reps, etc, etc, etc. because the propaganda you’re throwing around is what’s the SCAM here. Granted, Ameriplan is NOT perfect – no company could EVER be especially one of this size; however, this does NOT make it a scam. Is it for everyone? NO! but there’s a Night and Day difference between being a scam and just not a good fit for someone. Huge, HUGE difference. You definitely get out of it what you put into it.

For anyone looking to join Ameriplan, don’t take my word for it, don’t take anyone’s word for it – do your due diligence and research the FACTS using common sense. That’s what I did.

P.S. As for your derogatory comment about the quality of our providers, there again you are DEAD WRONG! Besides, if you think about that comment, you’ll realize how silly it is. Our providers are the same as the providers in major insurance company provider networks. All the major pharmacies. All the major vision centers. Need I say more?!

Most of you are missing the point. There is no question that all of the comments about making money or not making money are true. They are true for all businesses. MLM unfortunately brings in a much greater number of people with no capital that know nothing about business and or selling who after being hit with the harsh realities of making a success fail, or drop out and then blame anything or one other than themselves for lack of success. Every one of these MLM companies have successful people and scads of failures, atleasters, and quitters. So lookingat Ameriplan or Amway etc. as a scam is not the issue.

The real issue with Ameriplan is the product. Most people that are sold the product somehow believe that it is health insurance (reguardless of what the fine print indicates). Most places do not have providers. (As I wrote this i went and checked the provider list for the city I live in and except fot the people that normally give a discount or free session to get you in initially (chiropractors- eyeglasses- or the places that give a discount to hundreds of groups like AARP etc such as pharmacies) there were no providers. No primary care physicians, no Quick care etc. Sure there are some places with a large number of providers... but try to get an appointment, and then try to get a price lst, and then try to haggle over the price it will never happen!(I work with many people in the medical and they wont even deal with this. Yo'll never even get to talk to the doctors about price. In most cases they don't set and don't ven know what the prices are. In addition companies are notorious for raising the price before they give the discount.

The people that purchase these discount plans do so because they can't afford to pay for traditional health or dental insurance and somehow they believe that companies like Ameriplan can do so for a lower price. They know down in their heart that it can't be true but because they are making money (or hoping to) theycontinue on trying to sell it.

In fact AmeriPlan's BBB membership has been suspended since July 2006 and has been revoked on February 12, 2007

The Montana Attorney General in a successful law suit aginst Ameriplan said."

MORRISON ANNOUNCES $200,000 SETTLEMENT WITH AMERIPLAN TO RESOLVE FRAUD ALLEGATIONSMontana Victims to Benefit from SettlementMontana State Auditor John Morrison announced today a settlement agreement with Plano-based AmeriPlan to resolve allegations of insurance and securities fraud. In July of this year, Morrison issued a cease and desist order after charging AmeriPlan USA, its founding officers, Dennis and Daniel Bloom, and Shirl Shelley, a Montana resident, with numerous violations of both the Montana Insurance Code and the Montana Securities Act. The action taken against AmeriPlan was the first of its kind in Montana and possibly the first in the nation, relying on a new law governing medical care discount cards. Morrison requested the legislation last session to ensure that medical care discount card providers were legitimate before they were allowed to sell their products in Montana."This settlement agreement serves to remind medical discount card companies that protecting Montanans is our number one priority," said Morrison. "If discount card providers refuse to play by our new rules, they will pay the price and won?t be allowed to operate in Montana."Under the agreement, AmeriPlan must pay an administrative fine of $200,000 and create a restitution fund for Montana customers who were duped by the company. Montana customers of AmeriPlan can expect to receive a letter informing them that they are eligible to submit a claim to the restitution fund. In addition, AmeriPlan is banned from marketing and selling its products in Montana for two years."Our investigation put a stop to AmeriPlan's Montana activities," said Morrison, "but perhaps more importantly, we were able to get restitution for the victims. People receiving settlement letters will have 30 days to submit a claim - they need to follow the instructions outlined in their letter. Folks can certainly call my office if they have questions."

AmeriPlan and its agents and officers were accused of failing to contract with the medical care providers (including doctors, nurse practitioners, physician?s assistants and hospitals) they advertise as participants in AmeriPlan's medical care discount program. The Auditor alleges that over 700 Montana AmeriPlan members living all across the state were unable to use the discount cards because there were few, if any, providers in Montana. Additionally, AmeriPlan is charged with conducting an illegal pyramid promotional scheme because it sold "broker packages" for the purpose of recruiting memberships. Because the memberships were for discounts that did not exist, Morrison alleged there was no actual product being sold. AmeriPlan's largest source of income in Montana was from the sales of these "broker packages," which were nothing but a pyramid scheme, according to the Auditor's charging document.AmeriPlan's website and other advertising, including oral assertions from some of its agents, claimed to have a substantial number of medical care providers, dentists, and chiropractors contracted to provide a significant discount through the purchase of its card. When the Auditor?s office investigated these claims they were unable to find a single medical care provider or chiropractor who honored the discount cards. The only dentist who had contracted with AmeriPlan was located in Forsyth and was on probationary status with the Montana Board of Dentistry for his unlawful activities in Colorado. The new law requires the discount card companies to have contracts for services with providers located within a 60 mile radius of the card holder. The company was told to stop its activity in November of 2005 but AmeriPlan continued to market its discount cards until the matter was referred to Morrison's legal staff in late April. Additional charges included securities fraud, using deceptive or fraudulent practices in the marketing of their discount cards, selling unregistered securities by unregistered salespersons and failure to stop marketing the cards when they were not properly registered."With insurance premiums on the rise consumers are searching for ways to obtain medical care coverage at a manageable cost," said Morrison. "These fake discount card operators are preying on folks who are trying to find alternative solutions to the high cost of heath insurance. Our main goal is protecting Montanans while aggressively pursuing those bad actors in the industry who are exploiting the health care crisis facing consumers."The settlement agreement can be found at www.mt.gov/sao. Montanans who have questions regarding the settlement can call the State Auditor?s Office at 1-800-332-6148.

The bottom line is that if the product does not preform as it is presented sooner or later the company is doomed.
