American Bashing By Americans

In a recent discussing at a popular Hubbers page I made some comments that I did not agree with the tone after she lumped all Americans into a box.

My goal was not to incite but the comment below came from someone who preaches netiquette.

""Parushing - My tone did not amuse you? Are you kidding me? That is the most condescending comment I have ever seen. Don't bother commenting further.""

I responded by saying

""You can no more please all readers than please everyone all the time. I to have a dry sense of humor, but I happen to love and appreciate the country I am from.

Lumping people into a general class is stereotyping and by design is intended to draw discourse. While your Hub may address uncultured people from all over who wish to travel abroad it does single out a huge class of people.

I apologize you took offense in my comments, but it is no more condescending than lumping Americans into a class that not everyone belongs in.

A few bad apples does not spoil the bushel, if the bad apples are culled in time.

While I know my writing may not be the best on the Hub I do not defend myself to no end when people do not agree with me and by all means do not take personal shots because some one does not like my writing style or agree with my humor.

Preaching that Americans are annoying tourist and uncultured is akin to saying that all Germans are Nazi's or all Muslims are Terrorist. It is a broad characterization that is unfounded.

Tsk Tsk Maybe she needs to read her Hub on Netiqutte one more time.
